NBA Best Bets of the Day (2/9)

The NBA only has a small four-game schedule for Thursday, but that is not the most important piece of news. The most important thing to keep in mind is that it is trade deadline day. A lot of action has already happened, but you never know what else will happen before it ends.

Four of the eight teams playing have already been part of some deal that will have an effect on the rotation. Many of the new pieces will not be in uniform yet, so this is one of the toughest days to figure out minute projections. As I cautioned Wednesday, Thursday is a day to play less money than usual and also stick to some of the bigger stars or players that you are sure will not be on the move. I also try to avoid unders on a day like today, because a last-minute trade could leave you holding an under on a team dressing just the minimum number of players.

Best NBA Points Prop Bets

Deandre Ayton Over 21.5 Points

(-110, BetMGM)

Deandre Ayton has 31 and 35 points in the last two games. Help is on the way with Kevin Durant and Devin Booker. Until they are suited up though, Ayton is one of the few scorers left on this team. He’s had at least 20 points in five of the last six games including the two 30-point performances in the last two. If the Suns are going to hang in this game short-handed, Ayton is going to be a big part of it.

Cam Thomas Over 25.5 Points

(-120, FanDuel Sportsbook)

Cam Thomas has been otherworldly scoring the basketball lately. With the KD trade going down, it should continue for the foreseeable future. Thomas has 40-plus points in three straight games. More importantly, he’s hoisted up 23 or more shots in each of those games, making this something that is sustainable as long as that level of opportunity exists.
