5 Stats to Know: NBA DFS October 24

There are another eight games in the NBA tonight, and we’ve got some solid matchups this evening.

There are multiple teams that have been fantasy gold mines so far, including the Houston Rockets. That game is sure to be popular, and it should be, and we’ll talk about why.

1. Pascal Siakam is scoring six points per game in isolation

With the news that Scottie Barnes is expected to miss some time, the Toronto Raptors will need the rest of their group to help fill the void. Pascal Siakam is off to a fantastic start through three games, and the Heat are allowing the ninth-most points scored in isolation. Additionally, Siakam is tied for 11th in free-throw attempts per game, and his salary on DraftKings is very affordable.

2. Desmond Bane can’t buy a shot – for now

Desmond Bane has quietly become a lethal shooter in the league who is sometimes overshadowed by the brilliance of Ja Morant. Unless he suddenly can’t shoot a basketball, Bane is going to have a game where he explodes. He’s shooting 26.5% from the field overall and 23.8% from a 3-point distance on a 40.9% true shooting rate. The career numbers for Bane are 45.8%, 48.6% and 58.8%, so even though Dillon Brooks might be back, the law of averages has to hit hard sooner or later.

3. Lauri Markkanen is scoring 1.25 points per minute

The pricing for the Jazz is horribly cheap for this environment with this game having a total of over 230 points. Both teams are in the top 14 in pace, and Houston is last in defensive rating. Lauri Markkanen is eating up a 23.2% usage and has scored over 50 DK points in each of the past two games, so expect to play multiple Jazz players in cash.

4. Rudy Gobert is averaging 29.7 rebound chances per game

I wouldn’t have thought I’d be excited to play Rudy Gobert often this season, but here we are. The next closest player to Gobert for rebound chances is Jusuf Nurkic at 22.7 per game, and Gobert is averaging over 11 field goal attempts per game. Both of these teams are in the top 10 in pace, and the Spurs have allowed the most points in the paint per game so far.

5. Michael Porter Jr. is still only $6,000

His minutes have been a little restricted in the past two games because he’s dealt with foul trouble, but even in 28 minutes, he’s scored 32.5 and 36.0 DK points. Porter is not having any issues with his 3-point shot, as he’s shooting 50% from beyond the arc. He played 35 minutes in the first game, so he’s not having his minutes capped. If he plays 35+ minutes tonight, we could see him score 40+ DK points for an extremely reasonable salary. I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s popular, but I’ll be part of the field that plays him.
