Arizona Diamondbacks infield prospect Tim Tawa will remain on the major league roster despite Ketel Marte returning from the 10-day injured list. Instead, the Diamondbacks are sending outfielder Jorge Barrosa to Triple-A Reno. Tawa was initially promoted to the majors when Marte hit the IL with a hamstring injury. However, his strong performance earned him a spot on the roster. Throughout his first 19 games at the MLB level, Tawa has posted a .190/.304/.483 slash line with five long balls and two stolen bases. Under the hood, he has generated a strong .377 xwOBA and has drawn walks at a 13.0 percent rate, which are both well above the average marks. However, given Marte's return, Tawa may not see steady playing time going forward. As a result, he should only be rostered in deeper 15+ team/NL-only formats.

Arizona Diamondbacks infield prospect Tim Tawa went 1-for-4 with a solo shot during their victory over the Miami Marlins on Wednesday evening. Tawa would go yard off Miami right-hander Tyler Phillips in the seventh inning. The Diamondbacks promoted Tawa to the major leagues when they placed second baseman Ketel Marte (hamstring) on the 10-day injured list. Through his first taste of the majors, Tawa has not seen consistent playing time but has performed well when in the starting nine. He has tallied at least in each of his past three games, including two extra-base hits. Earlier in the summer, the infielder was flashing elite power at Triple-A as he posted a .391/.462/.957 slash line with two doubles and three home runs across six games. Given his unstable playing time, he should only be rostered in 15-team formats.

The Arizona Diamondbacks are promoting infield prospect Tim Tawa to the major leagues. In a corresponding move, the team is placing second baseman Ketel Marte (hamstring) on the 10-day injured list. Tawa has enjoyed an impressive start to the Triple-A regular season and is being rewarded with an early promotion. Through the first six games of the Triple-A regular season, the 25-year-old has posted a stellar .391/.462/.957 line with two doubles and three home runs. Last season, Tawa made his Triple-A debut and held a strong .304/.376/.616 line with 10 doubles and 11 long balls across 37 contests. The Stanford is worth picking up in deeper formats for the time being, as he could carve out a role at the keystone while Marte is sidelined. Garrett Hampson could also see opportunities, but given how well Tawa has been swinging a bat, the team may opt to ride the hot hand.UPDATE: Tawa is starting at second and batting ninth in his MLB debut on Saturday against Washington Nationals left-hander Mitchell Parker.
