Tarik Skubal Throws Complete-Game Shutout

Detroit Tigers starting pitcher Tarik Skubal had the most dominant pitching performance of 2025 on Sunday, striking out 13 hitters in a complete-game shutout against the Guardians. He only allowed two hits and didn't walk a single batter. The 28-year-old continues to impress, delivering the best start of his career after already being the best pitcher in baseball dating back to the start of 2024. He's making his case for a second straight AL Cy Young Award, posting a 2.49 ERA with 92 strikeouts and seven walks through 68 innings this season.

Tarik Skubal Strikes Out 11 In No-Decision

Detroit Tigers starting pitcher Tarik Skubal allowed seven hits and five earned runs over 6 1/3 innings in his team's 6-5 win over the Boston Red Sox. He walked one and struck out 11, but did not factor into the decision. The 28-year-old was mostly superb, tossing 67 of 95 pitches for strikes and inducing 21 whiffs for an elite 38% CSW. He was initially in line for a quality start, but Boston strung together a few hits in the seventh and plated three runs that Skubal was on the hook for (two after he was pulled). Fortunately, he wasn't in danger of being saddled with a loss, but it's an outing he'll want to forget. Even with the sizable run total let up, the California native still holds an exceptional 2.67 ERA, 0.93 WHIP, and 71:6 K:BB ratio through his first nine starts (54 innings). He'll carry a 4-2 record into his next outing, which projects to come on the road against the St. Louis Cardinals early next week.

Tarik Skubal Records 12 Strikeouts In Win

Detroit Tigers starting pitcher Tarik Skubal was excellent on the mound during Friday's outing against the Texas Rangers. The southpaw retired the first 15 batters he faced before giving up a single in the sixth inning. The Rangers would evenutally push across a run, but it was still an incredible performance by Skubal. The reigning CY Young award winner tossed seven innings, allowing one earned run on two hits, while striking out 12 batters. The left-hander has now struck out 11 batters or more in two of his last three starts. He'll take a 2.08 ERA, 0.88 WHIP, and 60/5 K/BB ratio into his next start against the Boston Red Sox. Yes, that is correct, Skubal has only five walks on the season and hasn't walked in a batter in three straight starts. He obviously needs to be rostered and started in all fantasy formats.
