Detroit Tigers starting pitcher Tarik Skubal delivered a stellar performance on Monday, tossing seven shutout innings in a 9-1 win over the Milwaukee Brewers. Skubal allowed just four hits, issued no walks, and struck out nine in this one. He didn't allow his first hit until the fifth inning, and the Brewers really didn't stand a chance all night. The reigning Cy Young winner now has a 2.66 ERA, 1.01 WHIP, and 25 strikeouts in 23 IP as he continues to be one of the games best pitchers. He is arguably the most valuable pitcher in fantasy.

Detroit Tigers starting pitcher Tarik Skubal picked up his first win of the season in Tuesday's 5-0 win over the Yankees. The 28-year-old silenced a tough lineup, allowing four hits and no walks with six strikeouts over six innings pitched. This was the first encouraging start for the 2024 American League Cy Young winner, who struggled by his standards in his first two starts. He is now 1-2 with a 3.78 ERA, an 8.64 K/9 rate, and a 2.16 BB/9 rate in three starts and 16 2/3 IP. Skubal should have a good chance to continue to get back on the right track in his next scheduled start, which will be a more favorable matchup at the Brewers.

Detroit Tigers left-hander Tarik Skubal will get the nod on Opening Day on March 27 against the World Series-champion Los Angeles Dodgers. "I'm looking forward to the challenge. You don't know how many Opening Days you're going to start in your career and I'm honored to be able to start two of them," Skubal said. It's no surprise that the 28-year-old southpaw will take the hill on Opening Day at Chavez Ravine after winning the American League Cy Young award unanimously in 2024. He will have a tough task on his hands on the road against the Dodgers, but fantasy managers that pay the high price to take Skubal early in drafts shouldn't be benching him. The former ninth-round pick in 2018 out of Seattle University led the league in WAR (6.3), wins (18), ERA (2.39), strikeouts (228) and FIP (2.49) in 192 innings and 31 starts in 2024 in his fifth year in the league with Detroit.
