The Atlanta Braves announced on Friday that they placed outfielder Stuart Fairchild (finger) on the 10-day injured list with a dislocated pinkie finger and optioned right-hander Michael Peterson to Triple-A Gwinnett. The Braves also selected the contract of outfielder Jose Azocar to the major-league roster. Fairchild suffered the fractured finger sliding into second base in Game 1 of Thursday's doubleheader against the Philadelphia Phillies and will likely require more than 10 days to rehab. The 29-year-old really wasn't a fantasy factor at all, even in NL-only leagues, as a reserve outfielder in Atlanta. The former second-rounder of the Cincinnati Reds in 2017 out of Wake Forest has gone 6-for-33 (.182) with no homers, two RBI and two steals in 21 games played as a bench option. Azocar will now take his place as outfield depth on the big-league roster.

Atlanta Braves outfielder Stuart Fairchild (finger) is expected to be placed on the 10-day injured list Friday, according to Justin Toscano of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Fairchild reportedly injured a finger on his right hand while sliding into second base during Game 1 of Thursday's doubleheader. He went 1-for-1 with a walk before exiting the contest. The 29-year-old has filled a depth role this season, appearing in 13 games as a right fielder and four as a designated hitter. He's slashing just .156/.206/.250 with a concerning 5.9 percent walk rate and 26.5 percent strikeout rate. 24-year-old prospect Carlos Rodriguez has been hitting well at Triple-A and could be summoned to the majors to replace Fairchild. Jarred Kelenic is also a candidate to re-join the big league squad. However, it's worth noting that while Fairchild is a right-handed hitter, Rodriguez and Kelenic both on the 40-man roster are lefties.

Atlanta Braves outfielder Stuart Fairchild (finger) was forced to exit early during Thursday's Game 1 of a doubleheader against the Philadelphia Phillies. He exited the contest after suffering a dislocated finger while sliding into second base on a steal attempt in the fourth inning. Despite that, Fairchild is reportedly available as a pinch-runner for the night cap of this doubleheader. It was initially believed that Fairchild suffered a broken finger, although it's still possible he'll land on the injured list with his dislocated digit. The 29-year-old has struggled with the bat in a bench role, as he's slashing .182/.250/.273 in 21 games with the Braves.
