In his first year with the White Sox in 2024, Wilson has been a key contributor out of their bullpen, going 1-2 with a 2.84 ERA (6.25 FIP) and 1.26 WHIP with 14 walks and 19 strikeouts in 19 innings over 21 relief appearances. However, unless the 29-year-old is able to limit the free passes when he returns from his injury, he'll be hard-pressed to be as fortunate the rest of the season. Nastrini will make his return to the big leagues and will join Chicago's starting rotation on Wednesday to face the Toronto Blue Jays for only the third start of his young major-league career.

San Diego Padres right-handed reliever Steven Wilson is expected to go to the Chicago White Sox in the trade that sent starter Dylan Cease to the Padres on Wednesday, according to sources. In addition to Wilson, the Padres also sent pitching prospects Drew Thorpe and Jairo Iriarte and outfielder Samuel Zavala. Wilson, 29, has posted a decent 3.48 ERA (4.33 FIP), a 1.11 WHIP, one save, 47 walks and 110 strikeouts in 106 innings pitched in San Diego the last two years. Given the sad state of the White Sox's bullpen as they rebuild, Wilson should immediately enter the closing mix in the Windy City alongside names like John Brebbia, Deivi Garcia and Jordan Leasure. It will give him a little more fantasy appeal for those desperate for saves in deeper leagues.
