Seranthony Dominguez Picks Up Save On Friday

Baltimore Orioles closer Seranthony Dominguez shut the door on the Astros in a 7-5 victory over Houston on Friday, earning his fifth save of the season. Dominguez had struggled recently after being crowned the closer, allowing home runs in three consecutive appearances, but was handed the ball in the ninth inning on Friday while former closer Craig Kimbrel pitched the eighth. It is a welcome sign for those fantasy managers who stuck with Dominguez, however, he also did not strike out a batter in the frame. The 29-year-old had recorded at least one strikeout in 13 straight appearances before Friday's outing. Nevertheless, closing games for an Orioles team that should continue to win a lot of games is a recipe for a valuable fantasy closer, and he should remain rostered until we see otherwise.

Seranthony Dominguez Picks Up Save On Wednesday

Baltimore Orioles right-hander Seranthony Dominguez got the final three outs of a 4-1 win over the Washington Nationals on Wednesday to earn a save. Dominguez did not allow a run while striking out one and walking one on 19 pitches in the frame. The veteran closer now has three saves in four chances this season, to go along with a 4.00 ERA, 1.13 WHIP, and 50 strikeouts in 45 innings of work split between the Philadelphia Phillies and the Orioles. Dominguez getting the save chance (his second in five days) is notable as regular closer Craig Kimbrel has struggled recently. This situation is worth monitoring moving forward, although Dominguez should have some fantasy value regardless of whether he's getting save chances.

Seranthony Dominguez Notches First Save Friday

Philadelphia Phillies reliever Seranthony Dominguez earned his first save of the season in Friday's 5-3 victory over the Orioles. Dominguez picked this one up in the 11th inning after usual closers Jose Alvarado and Jeff Hoffman had already been used. After starting the season with a 7.71 ERA and 1.64 WHIP over his first 16 appearances, Friday's outing marked the righty's 10th straight scoreless appearance in which he's posted a 0.00 ERA, 0.52 WHIP, and a 2:7 BB:K. Dominguez has been good of late, but don't count on too many more save chances unless something were to happen to Alvarado and Hoffman.
