Ramon Urias Could Return Next Week

Baltimore Orioles infielder Ramon Urias (hamstring) is progressing well and could return from the 10-day injured list next Tuesday or Wednesday, according to manager Brandon Hyde. The Orioles placed Urias on the IL last Saturday with a strained right hamstring. It was bad timing for Urias with Jordan Westburg (hamstring) already on the IL. Now that the Orioles have sent prospect Coby Mayo back to the minors, Emmanuel Rivera is Baltimore's primary third baseman until one of Urias or Westburg return. The 30-year-old Urias was hitting a strong .292 (21-for-72) at the time of his injury, but it came with only two home runs, nine RBI and five runs scored in a utility infield role. Even if he's in a full-time role at third in the short-term when he comes off the IL, Urias is really only attractive in AL-only leagues due to his limited power and speed.

Ramon Urias Returns To Action On Thursday

Baltimore Orioles infielder Ramon Urias (hamstring) will return to the starting lineup on Thursday against the New York Yankees. Urias is slated to bat eighth and cover the hot corner. Urias has been sidelined over the past week due to this injury. However, seeing him return to the starting nine quite quickly suggests the injury is not overly serious. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status in case he faces a setback. Last season, Urias appeared in 100 contests in Baltimore. Across this stint, he held a .254/.322/.423 slash line with nine doubles and 11 home runs. He swiped one bag and held a strong 18.3 percent strikeout rate. During the regular season, Urias will likely see time as a depth option in the infield. He could have an increased role early in the campaign if Gunnar Henderson (intercostal) is unable to play at the start of the season.

Ramon Urias Expected To Return On Thursday

Baltimore Orioles infielder Ramon Urias (hamstring) is expected to return to the Grapefruit League lineup on Thursday against the division-rival New York Yankees after an off day on Wednesday, according to manager Brandon Hyde. The 30-year-old veteran has been dealing with some minor hamstring soreness of late but should be ready to go later in the week. If shortstop Gunnar Henderson (intercostal) is forced to open the year on the injured list, Urias would likely start at second base for the Orioles, with young infielder Jackson Holliday likely shifting to the 6. If all of Baltimore's infielders are healthy, Urias profiles as a bench player in 2025 who can fill in at second or third base when needed. The Mexican infielder hit .254/.322/.423 with 11 home runs, 37 RBI and 39 runs scored in 100 games in his fifth year with the team in 2024. Given his lack of playing time, Urias is only an option in AL-only leagues.
