Boston Red Sox third baseman Rafael Devers (knee) remains absent from the team's starting lineup on Tuesday against the hosting Cleveland Guardians. Pablo Reyes is getting the start at the hot corner and will hit in the nine-hole against Guardians right-hander Ben Lively, making him a poor sleeper option for DFS lineups. The Red Sox were hoping the Devers could return on Tuesday after a scheduled off day on Monday, but that won't be the case. The 27-year-old could need a trip to the injured list now that he'll be missing his fifth straight game after suffering a bone bruise on his left knee. It's a gamble if you've already inserted him into your weekly fantasy lineup. On top of his injury, Devers is just 9-for-48 (.188) so far in 2024 with two home runs and five RBI.
Boston Red Sox third baseman Rafael Devers (knee) had an MRI exam on Thursday morning that showed a bone bruise and no structural damage in his left knee, which he tweaked making a play on defense in Tuesday's loss. He sat out on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, but manager Alex Cora told reporters on Saturday that the team is aiming for Devers to return on Tuesday against the Cleveland Guardians. The Red Sox have a scheduled off day on Monday, so the club is hoping the 27-year-old will be feeling better by Tuesday. If he's not, he could join first baseman Triston Casas (rib) on the injured list, which would really put the team's infield in a bind. With both Devers and Casas hurt, Bobby Dalbec is going to see regular playing time, making him worth a short-term pickup in AL-only leagues.
Boston Red Sox third baseman Rafael Devers (knee) remains out of the starting lineup on Saturday against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Bobby Dalbec is getting the start at the hot corner and is batting sixth in the lineup versus Pirates right-hander Mitch Keller. Devers is dealing with a bone bruise in his left knee and will miss his third straight game. The 27-year-old is going to need to return to the lineup soon to avoid landing on the injured list. The Red Sox's bench is pretty short-handed right now with outfielder Tyler O'Neill on the seven-day concussion injured list. Dalbec has never faced Keller in his career and has just one hit with two walks and 13 strikeouts in 24 plate appearances over 12 games so far in 2024 as a bench option for the BoSox.
Boston Red Sox third baseman Rafael Devers (knee) is not in the starting lineup for Friday's series opener against the hosting Pittsburgh Pirates. The 27-year-old went for an MRI on his knee after leaving Wednesday's game against the Cleveland Guardians with discomfort but the test revealed nothing more than bone bruise. He is not expected to require a stint on the injured list. It's been a sluggish start to the season for the star third baseman who is hitting just .188 but also has two homers and a healthy 15.5% BB% across 58 trips to the plate. Fantasy manager should check back daily to see when Devers is able to return to the lineup.
Boston Red Sox third baseman Rafael Devers' (knee) MRI exam showed only a bone bruise, and the Red Sox don't expect him to need a trip to the injured list. Devers was pulled from Tuesday's game against the Cleveland Guardians early with left-knee discomfort and served as the club's designated hitter on Wednesday and went 0-for-4 with three strikeouts before being held out for the series finale on Thursday while he had an MRI exam. There's thankfully nothing structurally wrong with the 27-year-old's knee, but fantasy managers will need to check back on Friday to see if he's back in there for the series opener against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Devers has started slow in 2024 and is currently hitting just .188 (9-for-48) with two homers and five RBI.
