St. Louis Cardinals second baseman Nolan Gorman is starting on the bench for Tuesday's contest against the division-rival Pittsburgh Pirates at Busch Stadium. This could be more of a regular occurrence against right-handed pitchers for Gorman, who has struggled mightily to a .175/.286/.302 slash line in his first 63 at-bats of 2025. The 24-year-old former 19th overall pick in 2018 has a home run, nine RBI, 10 runs scored, 11 walks and 21 strikeouts in 21 games played. Brendan Donovan is starting at second base and batting third, Alec Burleson is at first base and hitting sixth, and Willson Contreras is the designated hitter and batting fifth against Pirates right-hander Paul Skenes. Donovan has three hits and an RBI in 10 career at-bats against Skenes, while Burleson has hit .417 with two RBI in 12 at-bats against him. Contreras is hitless in his six at-bats versus Skenes.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch's Daniel Guerrero reports that St. Louis Cardinals infielder Nolan Gorman (finger) suffered a left index-finger laceration in the second inning of the first game of a doubleheader on Sunday against the New York Mets when Willson Contreras stepped on his glove hand. The 24-year-old was checked by a trainer and remained in the contest before eventually being removed in the ninth inning for a defensive replacement. Gorman is back at second base and is hitting sixth in Monday's series opener against the division-rival Pittsburgh Pirates and right-hander Carmen Mlodzinski after he sat out of Game 2 of Sunday's doubleheader. The former first-rounder (19th overall) in 2018 has been a non-factor for fantasy managers so far in 2025, as he's hitting just .167 (10-for-60) with a homer, nine RBI, nine runs scored and 21 strikeouts in 20 games played.

St. Louis Cardinals infielder Nolan Gorman is not in the team's starting lineup Saturday's contest against the visiting New York Mets at Busch Stadium. Alec Burleson will draw into the lineup at first base and will hit sixth against Mets right-hander Tylor Megill. Gorman has been awful at the plate to start the 2025 season, slashing just .185/.292/.333 with a home runs, eight RBI, nine runs scored, nine walks and 19 strikeouts in 18 games played. The 24-year-old left-handed hitter has gone hitless in his last 13 at-bats with three walks and five strikeouts in his last five games. If he doesn't pick it up soon, he could find himself on the bench more often. Burleson is a mediocre DFS sleeper consideration on Saturday against a pitcher he has never faced. The 26-year-old lefty is still searching for his first homer of the season while slashing .256/.304/.291 with six RBI, two steals and seven runs scored.
