Miles Mikolas Obliterated By Reds On Thursday

St. Louis Cardinals right-hander Miles Mikolas had a start to forget on Thursday against the visiting division-rival Cincinnati Reds. Mikolas surrendered a season-high 10 runs (nine earned) on a season-high 12 hits (one homer) while walking one and striking out only one to pick up his seventh loss of the season. The poor outing raised his ERA to 5.32 on the year and his WHIP to 1.25 in 17 starts over 94 2/3 innings pitched. It was also the first time since May 7 that Mikolas didn't go at least five innings, ending his streak at eight starts. So while this was a pretty disastrous outing from all accounts, Mikolas had been pretty serviceable before this, although his lack of strikeout upside severely limits his upside in fantasy circles. Mikolas is sporting a weak 17.3% strikeout rate in 2024 and has a career strikeout rate of just 17.6% in nine MLB seasons.

Miles Mikolas Collects Another Quality Start

St. Louis Cardinals starting pitcher Miles Mikolas put together a good performance in Tuesday's no-decision versus the Pittsburgh Pirates. Mikolas earned his eighth quality start of the season with seven scoreless frames of one-hit ball. He also allowed a walk and struck out six on the evening. Mikolas started the season getting hit hard, but he come along lately with five quality starts over his last six starts. Mikolas doesn't rack up enough strikeouts to be a must-roster, but with the way he is pitching lately, he is worth a look as a backend starter or streamer. Next up for Mikolas will be a date with the rival Chicago Cubs on Sunday.

Miles Mikolas Falls Apart In Fifth Inning

St. Louis Cardinals starting pitcher Miles Mikolas looked sharp during the first four innings of Tuesday's game against the New York Mets. After that, the Mets jumped on him for six earned runs on six hits during the fifth inning. Mikolas was pulled out of the game before he could even record an out in the inning. The veteran right-hander was decent last time out but has struggled during a majority of his starts this season. It appears that time has finally caught up to Mikolas who has been fairly reliable throughout his big league career. Fantasy managers probably want to stay away from Mikolas until he gets back on track.
