Tampa Bay Rays outfielder Kameron Misner will take a seat for Friday's home meeting with the Miami Marlins. Teammate Jake Mangum will bat fifth and occupy center field in his stead against right-handed pitcher Edward Cabrera. Misner had two days off last weekend, though he technically picked up at-bats in both games and hasn't had an actual off day in nearly a month, so it's likely just that for him. The 27-year-old has been solid against righties this season (.248), but not as good as the switch-hitting Mangum (.322). Misner is an excellent defender, but poor plate discipline and quality of contact have held him back at the plate. He's sporting a .224/.290/.376 triple slash with five home runs, seven steals, 25 runs scored, and 18 RBI (57 appearances).

Tampa Bay Rays outfielder Kameron Misner got in on the action in Monday's 16-1 win over the Red Sox. Misner went 3-for-4 with a single, a solo home run, a two-run HR, and a walk. The 27-year-old drove a second-inning Tanner Houck breaking pitch over the left-center wall to score two and finished the scoring parade in the eighth inning, taking a Brennan Bernardino breaking pitch just over the right-field wall. Misner came into the season with no fantasy hype but has produced at a high level early on, slashing .400/.444/.775 with three HR, nine RBI, and a stolen base in 45 plate appearances. He has never produced extraordinary minor-league numbers, but fantasy managers could potentially turn to him as a spark plug for their lineups in the short term.

Tampa Bay Rays outfielder Kameron Misner wasn't in the starting lineup to begin Friday's game, but he came up as the hero. Misner came into the game as defensive replacement in the eighth inning. He came ready to play as Misner hit a game-winning home run off Victor Vodnik during his lone plate appearance. Misner returned to the big league roster with Richie Palacios (finger) heading to the injured list. However, Misner figures to be primary a bench outfielder, so his playing time could be limited. He was the hero on Friday, but fantasy managers don't need to jump on the waiver wire to add Misner.
