Free-agent left-hander Julio Urias has been suspended until after the All-Star break for his second violation of the league's domestic-violence policy, MLB announced on Friday. Urias was suspended for 20 games in August of 2019 for his first domestic-violence violation, and now the 28-year-old southpaw will be forced to miss the whole first half of the 2025 season for an incident back in September of 2023. He can sign with a team after he serves his suspension, but that's probably unlikely to happen at this point. The Mexican hurler won a league-high 20 games for the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2021 and had ERAs under 3.00 in both 2021 and 2022 before posting a 4.60 ERA and 1.16 WHIP with 117 strikeouts and 24 walks in 117 1/3 innings over 21 starts in 2023. Urias did not pitch at all in 2024 and is obviously off the fantasy radar in 2025.

Former Los Angeles Dodgers left-hander Julio Urias was charged with five misdemeanors stemming from his arrest in 2023 on suspicion of domestic violence last September, according to a spokesperson from the LA City Attorney's office. The charges include one count of spousal battery, two counts of domestic battery involving dating relationship, one count of false imprisonment and one count of assault. An arraignment is scheduled for May 2. The 27-year-old southpaw spent the rest of last year on administrative leave with the Dodgers before his contract expired in early November. Urias was not signed by a team this past offseason and could face discipline eventually from the league. He was suspended for 20 games in 2019 after being arrested but not charged on misdemeanor suspicion of domestic violence. It's very possible we won't ever see him pitch in the big leagues again.

Los Angeles prosecutors declined to file felony charges against free-agent starting pitcher Julio Urias in connection with his September arrest on suspicion of domestic violence, per the Orange County Register. Urias was placed on administrative leave by MLB shortly after the incident while he was on the Dodgers. The case has instead been referred to the Los Angeles City Attorney's Office for consideration as a possible misdemeanor case. This is his second domestic violence offense, as he was suspended for 20 games after the first incident in 2019. While Urias has been a higher-end fantasy option throughout his career, it remains to be seen if any MLB teams will be willing to offer him a contract.
