San Francisco Giants outfielder/designated hitter Jorge Soler (illness) is back as the team's DH and will hit second in Thursday's series finale against the visiting Toronto Blue Jays and right-hander Kevin Gausman. Soler will return to the lineup after missing the last two games due to an illness. But the 32-year-old right-handed slugger is feeling better on Thursday and will return for a matchup against Gausman, who he has hit .250 against with a .500 OPS in eight career at-bats. The Cuban power hitter has only 10 homers and is batting .224 (64-for-286) in his first year in San Fran and has also been cold so far in six games in July, going 4-for-25 (.160) with a homer, two doubles, one RBI and nine strikeouts. It's been a disappointing 2024 campaign after he made his first All-Star team in 2023 with Miami, when he hit 36 homers and drove in 75 runs.
San Francisco Giants outfielder Jorge Soler (illness) remains out of the starting lineup ahead of Wednesday's game against the Toronto Blue Jays. The 32-year-old slugger will miss his second straight game with what is believed to be a minor illness. Mike Yastrzemski will start in his place in right field and bat seventh versus right-hander Chris Bassitt on Wednesday. Fantasy managers should adjust their lineups with Soler out for at least one more game.
San Francisco Giants designated hitter Jorge Soler (illness) is sick, but he could be available off the bench for Tuesday's series opener against the visiting Toronto Blue Jays. Considering Soler may be able to pinch-hit on Tuesday, there's a good chance fantasy managers can get him back available for Wednesday's matchup against Toronto. The veteran slugger is hitting just .224 (64-for-286) with 10 home runs, 32 RBI, and 45 runs scored during his first year with the Giants. Thairo Estrada has moved to designated hitter and is leading off in San Fran's lineup against Jays left-hander Yusei Kikuchi, and Brett Wisely has entered the starting nine at second base.
Batting in the leadoff spot on Tuesday, San Francisco Giants outfielder Jorge Soler went 1-for-5 with a home run in a victory versus the Atlanta Braves. Soler has struggled in his first season with the Giants but has improved over the past month, with four of his 10 homers on the year and 16 of his 32 RBI. Fantasy managers that remained patient with the slugger are finally starting to see results, and his buy-low window continues to get smaller by the day. For the season, Soler is hitting .229, but this past month is more indicative of what fantasy managers should expect the rest of the way. Those seeking power should consider targeting Soler as he continues to trend up.
San Francisco Giants outfielder Jorge Soler finally got his bat going during Sunday's game against the Los Angeles Angels. The veteran slugger went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run and four RBI in the blowout victory. It has been a slow start for Soler but the four RBI and three runs scored were both season highs for him. He's slashing .224/.309/.383 which isn't ideal but the Giants are committed to him as the everyday DH.
