Atlanta Braves outfielder Jorge Soler has homered in back-to-back games for his new (old) team, going 3-for-4 with a walk, three RBI, and two runs scored in Saturday's 11-8 win over the Rockies. The former All-Star has now reached base safely via hit or walk in 18 consecutive games now and is slashing .349/.481/.603 over that stretch. As the 32-year-old continues to surge, he now owns a .243-14-46-62-1 line with a .331 wOBA and 116 wRC+. The veteran has been hitting out of the leadoff spot for the Braves, setting him up for a productive final two months.
Atlanta Braves outfielder Jorge Soler went 2-for-5 with a two-run homer in Friday's 6-5 loss to the Rockies. The home run was his first since joining the Braves at the end of July and now gives him 13 on the season. The 32-year-old has reached base via hit or walk in each game with his new team, with the stretch extending back even further than that, now with a 17-game on-base streak. During the 17-game stretch, the veteran is 19-for-59 (.322) with four doubles, three home runs, and a 15:18 BB:K. It has been a disappointing season as far as the power output is concerned after the former All-Star hit 36 home runs in 2023, but with a 14.6% barrel rate over these last 17 games (10.2% on the season), perhaps he'll finish strong.
Outfielder/designated hitter Jorge Soler and right-handed reliever Luke Jackson are not expected to report to the Atlanta Braves and be added to the roster ahead of Tuesday night's game against the hosting Milwaukee Brewers. The Braves acquired Soler and Jackson from the San Francisco Giants on Monday night in exchange for lefty reliever Tyler Matzek and third base prospect Sabin Ceballos. Soler and Jackson could join the Braves for their debuts in the series finale in Milwaukee on Wednesday. Both players are familiar with Atlanta after having already played for them. The 32-year-old Soler is having a disappointing 2024 season with just 12 home runs and 40 RBI in 341 at-bats after clubbing 36 long balls a year ago in Miami. Hopefully, the move back to Atlanta will spark his bat. Soler is expected to see most of his playing time in right field with the Braves.
The Atlanta Braves struck a deal with the San Francisco Giants on Monday to bring back outfielder/designated hitter Jorge Soler, per MLB.com. The Braves will also receive another familiar name in relief pitcher Luke Jackson, while the Giants will receive left-handed reliever Tyler Matzek and Minor League infielder Sabin Ceballos. Soler was traded to the Braves in 2021 and helped fuel a playoff run, earning World Series Most Valuable Player honors. He has put together a respectable offensive season, slashing .240/.330/.419 with 12 home runs, 57 runs scored, and 40 RBI in 392 plate appearances. Soler will provide offensive and positional support to a Braves lineup that is dealing with several key outfield injuries. Even so, he will be moving to a stronger lineup and out of pitcher-friendly Oracle Park, hopefully boosting his power production.
San Francisco Giants outfielder/designated hitter Jorge Soler went 3-for-3 with a home run, three RBI, and two walks on Friday to power the Giants over the Rockies. This is Soler's second consecutive multi-hit game, and he extended his on-base streak to six games. During this stretch, the 32-year-old has been riding an excellent .389/.607/.722 line with two home runs, six RBI, and a 10:3 BB:K ratio. Since June 1, Soler has begun to turn the corner on his slow start with a .264/.363/.466 slash line with six home runs, 25 RBI, and a 25:50 BB:K ratio. Soler will be a popular DFS play all weekend as the Giants continue their series with the Colorado Rockies.
