Detroit Tigers starting pitcher Casey Mize (hamstring) has been activated from the 15-day injured list on Saturday. Mize will make his way back to the mound after landing on the injured list due to a hamstring strain. Before going down, Mize posted a 2.53 ERA, 1.01 WHIP, and 35/9 K/BB ratio across seven starts. The right-hander is hopeful to pick up where he left off against the Cleveland Guardians on Saturday. Mize has pitched well enough this season to warrant being rostered in most fantasy formats. In a corresponding move, outfielder Akil Baddoo has been optioned to Triple-A Toledo.

Detroit Tigers right-hander Casey Mize (hamstring) threw five innings in a simulated game at Comerica Park on Monday, according to The Detroit News' Chris McCosky. Mize is on track to come off the 15-day injured list and start against the division-rival Cleveland Guardians on Saturday. It's good news for the Tigers after they just placed right-hander Reese Olson (finger) on the IL on Monday. The 28-year-old has been sidelined since May 8 with a strained left hamstring. Mize will be worth a look as a fantasy streamer in his first game back against a Guardians team that is sporting a .686 OPS, which ranks only 22nd in baseball. Although Mize has a below-average 21% strikeout rate in 42 2/3 innings this year, it's the highest mark of his career and he has a nice 2.53 ERA, 1.01 WHIP and 35:9 K:BB in his seven starts for Detroit.

Detroit Tigers starting pitcher Casey Mize (hamstring) has been placed on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to May 9. The right-hander was fantastic against the Colorado Rockies on Thursday. He gave up one earned run across six innings of work. However, Mize reportedly injured his hamstring during the late stages of that outing. As a result, Mize will be sidelined for a few weeks, which is a shame considering how well he has been pitching this season. The Tigers have reportedly named Keider Montero as Tuesday's starter. If he pitches well, Montero could see more starts in the rotation while Mize is out. Fantasy managers shouldn't jump to the waiver wire to add Montero unless you're desperate for pitching in deeper leagues. He'll face the Boston Red Sox on Tuesday.
