According to the team, Seattle Mariners outfielder Cade Marlowe has been outrighted to Triple-A. Marlowe was designated for assignment earlier this week and will now open the 2025 season at Triple-A Tacoma. Last season, Marlowe appeared in eight contests for the Mariners and held a .250/.333/.250 line. He did not tally an extra-base hit. In 2023, Marlowe made his MLB debut and posted a .229/.330/.420 slash line with three doubles and three home runs. Across 90 contests with Triple-A Tacoma last summer, the 27-year-old posted a .235/.341/.395 slash line, eight doubles, and 13 home runs. Fantasy managers should not expect Marlowe to have any fantasy value early in the season playing at the Triple-A level. However, he will likely get the call to Seattle as a depth option later in the campaign.

The Seattle Mariners designated outfielder Cade Marlowe for assignment on Monday to make room on the 40-man roster for second baseman Jorge Polanco, who the team re-signed late last week. Marlowe gets the boot off the M's roster after going 2-for-8 with a walk, strikeout and a run scored in only eight games played at the big-league level. In 34 games in his MLB debut the year prior, he hit .239 (21-for-88) with three homers, 11 RBI, four stolen bases, 14 runs scored and 33 strikeouts in 100 plate appearances. The 27-year-old could draw some interest on waivers from other clubs, but if he goes unclaimed, he'll officially be free to sign with any team. At best, Marlowe will operate as organizational outfield depth if he latches on elsewhere and will likely start 2025 in the minors.

The Seattle Mariners recalled outfielders Jonathan Clase and Cade Marlowe from Triple-A Tacoma on Tuesday. Marlowe is starting in right field for the M's and is hitting ninth against the visiting Los Angeles Angels and right-hander Jose Soriano. Marlowe, a left-handed hitting 27-year-old, made his big-league debut in 2023 and hit .239 (21-for-88) with three homers, three doubles, two triples, 11 homers and four steals in his first 34 games. He hit .235 with 13 homers for Tacoma this year, and he and Clase, the team's No. 10 prospect per MLB Pipeline, could be battling for playing time with Julio Rodriguez (ankle) on the 10-day injured list. Clase, a 22-year-old switch-hitter, has looked overmatched in his MLB debut in 2024, going 8-for-41 (.195) at the plate with no homers, a double, three RBI, three swipes and a 14:2 K:BB in 43 trips to the plate and 19 games played.
