Bryan Shaw Optioned To Triple-A

Cincinnati Reds right-handed pitcher Bryan Shaw was optioned to Triple-A. Shaw joined the Reds as a non-roster invite earlier in the winter. Last season, the 37-year-old logged just four innings in the major leagues. Across this short stint, Shaw allowed four earned runs and held a 4:4 BB:K. During the 2023 campaign, Shaw logged 45 2/3 innings of work to the tune of a 4.14 ERA and a 1.23 WHIP. During this season, Shaw tallied 40 punchouts with 17 walks and four saves. Across 92 2/3 career innings a the Triple-A level, Shaw has posted a 4.37 ERA with a 1.36 WHIP. Fantasy managers should expect Shaw to be in the mix to return to the majors later in the 2025 season when the Reds need additional depth in their bullpen.

Bryan Shaw Agrees To Minor-League Deal With Cincinnati

According to Robert Murray of FanSided, the Cincinnati Reds have signed right-handed pitcher Bryan Shaw to a minor-league contract that has an invite to Spring Training. The 37-year-old has spent 14 seasons in the major leagues and has posted a 3.96 ERA and a 1.34 WHIP. He has struck out 681 batters across 764 1/3 career innings. Last summer, he spent most of his time in Triple-A, and held a 4.14 ERA and a 1.50 WHIP. Shaw was a productive relief pitcher under manager Terry Francona during his time in Cleveland and will now reunite with his former skipper in Cincinnati. If Shaw has a successful Spring Training, he may earn a permanent low-leverage role in the Cincinnati bullpen.

White Sox Agree With Bryan Shaw On Minors Pact

The Chicago White Sox agreed to terms on a minor-league deal with an invitation to major-league spring training with free-agent right-hander Bryan Shaw on Saturday. Shaw returns to the White Sox after recording a 4.14 ERA (3.87 FIP), a 1.23 WHIP, a career-high four saves, 17 walks and 40 strikeouts in 45 2/3 relief innings for the Pale Hose in 2023. The 36-year-old will help bolster one of the weakest bullpens in the league again in 2024, although he won't be a lock to make the Opening Day roster out of camp. The 13-year major-league veteran has a career 3.93 ERA (4.04 FIP) and 1.33 WHIP with 19 saves and 677 strikeouts in 760 1/3 innings pitched with the White Sox, Cleveland Guardians, Arizona Diamondbacks, Colorado Rockies and Seattle Mariners.
