Colorado Rockies outfielder Brenton Doyle went 2-for-4 with a double and a homer on Thursday, helping the team pick up a 9-1 win over the San Francisco Giants. Doyle added two runs scored and three RBI to round out his stat line. The 25-year-old got off to a hot start at the dish and was a popular waiver wire add in fantasy, but coming into this game since May 1, he was slashing a dismal .111/.143/.185 with just one extra-base hit. He still has solid season numbers, but he is much less appealing in fantasy outside of deeper leagues, especially since he has moved down in the Rockies lineup.
Colorado Rockies outfielder Brenton Doyle was all over it on Thursday as part of a 10-9 win over the visiting San Diego Padres. The 25-year-old went 3-for-4 with a walk, an RBI, three runs scored, and two stolen bases on the day, scoring the game-winning run in the bottom of the eighth inning, as well. The massive outing raised his average to a hefty .330 on the season while he has three homers, four stolen bases, 16 runs scored, and an .898 OPS across 25 games and 97 trips to the plate. Doyle flashed signs of a nice power and speed combination with 10 homers, 16 doubles, five triples, and 22 stolen bases across 126 games in his rookie season in 2023 but also hit just .203 and struck out in 35% of his plate appearances. He has just five walks against 28 strikeouts on the season but remains a solid fantasy asset if he continues to provide value in the power and speed departments.
Colorado Rockies outfielder Brenton Doyle (chest) is back in center field and is batting seventh on Monday against the visiting San Diego Padres and right-hander Dylan Cease. The Rockies held Doyle out as a precaution for the second game of a doubleheader on Sunday against the Seattle Mariners after he suffered a chest injury in Game 1. The 25-year-old has limited fantasy upside while hitting down near the bottom of Colorado's batting order, but that hasn't taken away from his hot start in 2024. The former fourth-rounder in 2019 from Shepherd University his hitting .289 (22-for-76) with three home runs, seven RBI and two stolen bases. Doyle is hitless so far in two career at-bats against Cease.
Colorado Rockies outfielder Brenton Doyle (chest) looks to be OK after suffering a chest bruise in Game 1 of a doubleheader on Sunday. As a precaution, the Rockies scratched Doyle from the lineup for the second game of Sunday's doubleheader against the Seattle Mariners. The 25-year-old is expected to be fine for the upcoming series against the San Diego Padres, which starts on Monday, so fantasy managers will want to check back later to see if he's back in the lineup. Even if Doyle takes another game off on Monday, he should be able to avoid a stint on the injured list. The former fourth-round pick in 2019 out of Shepherd University has looked good in his second MLB season so far, going 22-for-76 (.289) with three home runs, seven RBI and two stolen bases in 21 games. Get Doyle back into your lineups if he returns on Monday.
Colorado Rockies outfielder Brenton Doyle has put on 20 pounds of good weight since the end of the 2023 season. In his first major-league season last year, Doyle struggled with a .203 batting average (81-for-399) and a .250 on-base percentage, but he also managed to club 10 home runs, drive in 48 runs and steal 22 bases in 126 games over 431 plate appearances as the team's center fielder. The 25-year-old struck out over 30 percent of the time, which is why he barely hit over the Mendoza Line, but at hitter-friendly Coors Field, Doyle's power/speed combination is intriguing. His elite glove in the outfield should keep him in Colorado's lineup on a daily basis, and if he can start making more contact, Doyle will certainly attract the attention of fantasy managers in mixed leagues.
