Baltimore Orioles pitching prospect Brandon Young was recalled from Triple-A Norfolk on Tuesday. The 26-year-old made his major league debut on April 19, allowing three earned runs on seven hits and three walks while striking out three in four innings of work. The O's do not have a scheduled starter for Friday's game against Detroit, so Young could be an option there. The 6-foot-6 hurler has looked good through three starts at Triple-A this season, posting a 2.76 ERA, 0.92 WHIP, and a 2:17 BB:K through 16 1/3 innings pitched. The righty could be used in AL-only formats, but may not be a great streamer otherwise, as the Tigers are top 10 in runs scored per game in 2025 despite being bottom 10 in strikeouts per game. Reliever Cody Poteet was placed on the 15-day IL in a corresponding move.

Baltimore Orioles pitching prospect Brandon Young is set to make his MLB debut on Saturday afternoon against the Cincinnati Reds. Young joined the Baltimore taxi squad prior to Friday's series opener and is set to take the big league bump for the first time on Saturday. Young opened the campaign with Triple-A Norfolk and held a 2.76 ERA with an impressive 0.92 WHIP across 16 1/3 innings of work. During this stint, the right-hander struck out 17 batters and served up just two free passes. This was a nice improvement compared to the 3.44 ERA and the 1.28 WHIP he held at Triple-A during his first stint with Norfolk during the 2024 campaign. Fantasy managers should only target Young in AL-only formats. He could be worth a look in DFS as a high-upside value play.

Baltimore Orioles pitching prospect Brandon Young could be a candidate to make his MLB debut next week. According to Jake Rill of MLB.com, Young was initially expected to start Friday's games for the Norfolk Tides but has been pushed back to Sunday. The Orioles will need a fifth starter next week with Zach Eflin (lat) hitting the injured list. Young has enjoyed a strong start to the season with Norfolk as he has logged 11 1/3 innings of two-run ball across his first two starts. During this impressive start, he has allowed seven hits and two walks while tallying 11 punchouts. Fantasy managers should monitor his status throughout the weekend as he could be called to start for the Orioles next week. If he gets the call, he could be worth a look in deeper formats.
