Gerrit Cole Plays Catch For Second Time

New York Yankees starter Gerrit Cole (elbow) played catch on Thursday, according to MLB.com. It was the second time the star right-hander has played catch since going on the 60-day injured list. Yankees manager Aaron Boone noted that session went well, but he did not mention when Cole will throw again. The 33-year-old is not eligible for activation until late May, though there is no guarantee he will be ready to return by then. Cole still deserves to be stashed in all formats until further notice, but it is safe to assume the Yankees will take things slow with their ace.

Jake Burger Leaves Sunday's Game With Oblique Injury

Miami Marlins third baseman Jake Burger left Sunday's game early after experiencing left oblique discomfort. The 28-year-old was replaced by Emmanuel Rivera after taking one at-bat. Burger will likely undergo further testing to determine the severity of the injury. Burger has been relatively productive to start the campaign with three home runs and 15 RBI, but his .228/.281/.421 slash line leaves a bit to be desired. Rivera and Vidal Brujan may see more reps if Burger misses time, but neither are interesting fantasy options.

Salvador Perez Exits Early On Sunday

Kansas City Royals catcher Salvador Perez left Sunday's game early after a collision at home plate with Starling Marte. Freddy Fermin entered the game for Perez, who walked off the field with a noticeable limp. It is too early to determine the severity of Perez's injury but hopefully it is nothing long term. Fermin would be the likely replacement if the 33-year-old is forced to miss time. Fermin had modest success at the plate in 2022, but he would only have true value in two-catcher leagues or AL Only formats.

Victor Scott II Not In Sunday’s Lineup

St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Victor Scott II is not in Sunday's lineup as the Cardinals will play in the final game of a three-game set against the Arizona Diamondbacks. The third-ranked prospect in the St. Louis system has started in every game so far in center field and carries a disappointing .098/.158/.157 with two stolen bases and two RBI. 24-year-old Michael Siani will play center field in today's rubber match and will bat in the nine-hole. Siani, who has a .125 AVG in the young season, will have a tall task ahead of him today as he will face Arizona ace Zac Gallen.

Gabriel Moreno Getting A Rest Day On Sunday

Arizona Diamondbacks catcher Gabriel Moreno will get a breather in Sunday's series finale against the St. Louis Cardinals. Moreno has continued to hit the ball well and post a low strikeout rate once again this season, as he is currently in the 99th percentile among all qualified hitters with an 8.2% K-rate. He also has a strong .256 AVG with six RBI, three doubles, and one triple. Veteran Tucker Barnhart will serve as the backstop for Zac Gallen and make his fifth start of the season. Over his first four, Barnhart has hit for a .300 AVG and swiped one bag. Barnhart, who will bat ninth on Sunday, is worth looking at in DFS as he will face Miles Mikolas, who comes into the game with a hefty 4.76 ERA and 1.47 WHIP.
