Kyle Bradish To Make A Rehab Start Tuesday

Baltimore Orioles right-hander Kyle Bradish (elbow) will make his first minor-league rehab start on Tuesday with Double-A Bowie. Bradish is hoping to go two to three innings or 40 to 50 pitches in his first rehab start this week. The 27-year-old is recovering from a partial tear to his right UCL, so the Orioles are probably going to be pretty cautious with him as he attempts to return to the major-league rotation. There's no guarantee that Bradish will be able to get through all of the 2024 season without suffering a setback that would require season-ending Tommy John surgery, but the hope for now is that he can return to the O's rotation and avoid going under the knife. After his breakout performance in 2023, Bradish deserves to be stashed in an IL spot for now in at least deep-mixed fantasy leagues.

Luis Garcia, Lance McCullers Jr., Jose Urquidy Play Catch

Houston Astros pitchers Luis Garcia (elbow), Lance McCullers Jr. (elbow), Jose Urquidy (forearm) and Penn Murfee (elbow) all played catch at Minute Maid Park on Monday. Left-hander Framber Valdez (elbow) is scheduled to play catch Tuesday. Garcia, McCullers and Murfee are all currently on the 60-day injured list. Garcia is recovering from Tommy John surgery last May and isn't expected to be an option for the 'Stros until around midseason at least. McCullers, 30, is expected to be out until late June or early July as he recovers from right-elbow surgery. After missing a huge chunk of last season, the 28-year-old Urquidy has now been out almost a month with a right-forearm strain. Barring a setback, he should be the first of this group to return for Houston's rotation.

Alex Bregman Back In Action Monday

Houston Astros third baseman Alex Bregman (illness) is back at third base and is hitting cleanup for the Astros on Monday against the visiting Atlanta Braves and right-hander Darius Vines after missing the last three games with an illness. Fantasy managers will want to get Bregman back in their lineups for the week. The 30-year-old will look to get things rolling at the plate after a slow start to the season. The two-time All-Star is currently slashing .241/.305/.333 with no home runs, two RBI, a stolen base, two runs scored and nine strikeouts in 59 plate appearances over his first 14 games played. This will be the first time that Bregman has faced Vines in the big leagues.

Salvador Perez Not Playing Monday

Kansas City Royals catcher Salvador Perez (groin, hip) is not in the starting lineup on Monday against the Chicago White Sox on the road. It shouldn't come as a huge surprise that Perez isn't in there after he was pulled early from Sunday's game New York Mets with left groin and hip injuries. Catcher Logan Porter is currently on the team's taxi squad to begin the week just in case the 33-year-old Perez's injury ends up costing him more than just a few days. Freddy Fermin would be the team's primary backstop if Perez is forced to the injured list. Fermin is behind the plate and is batting eighth on Monday against White Sox rookie right-hander Nick Nastrini, who is making his big-league debut. Fermin has just five hits in his first 26 at-bats in 2024 for a .192 batting average and one RBI.

Jordan Romano, Erik Swanson Likely To Return Tuesday

Toronto Blue Jays relief pitchers Jordan Romano (elbow) and Erik Swanson (forearm) are likely to be activated from the injured list on Tuesday. Both Romano and Swanson have completed their minor-league rehab assignments and are ready to make their 2024 debuts in the big leagues this week. The Blue Jays could decide to ease the 30-year-old Romano into closing duties when he's back, but he should be rostered already in all fantasy formats. With Romano and Swanson injured, Chad Green has picked up two saves, while Yimi Garcia has one early in the season. Swanson probably isn't going to many save chances in 2024 as long as Romano stays healthy the rest of the way, but he'll be a key late-inning setup man and will have value in fantasy in holds leagues.
