It sounds as though Boston Red Sox third baseman Rafael Devers (shoulder) will need at least another day off on Friday for the start of a series against the Los Angeles Angels. Meanwhile, manager Alex Cora said that infielder Romy Gonzalez (wrist) avoided a fracture after injuring his wrist on Wednesday. The 27-year-old Devers still has soreness in his left shoulder and could require an injured-list stint if he doesn't improve over the weekend. Fantasy managers need to prepare for that possibility and keep him out of your lineups again on Friday after he sat out Thursday's loss to Baltimore. Pablo Reyes got the start at third base on Thursday and is likely to fill in there for as long as Devers is out. Devers does have two homers but has just seven hits overall in his first 46 plate appearances this year.

After just recently being called up by the Chicago White Sox, outfielder Oscar Colas was optioned back to Triple-A Charlotte on Thursday. Colas was with the White Sox for one game and was hitless in his pinch-hitting appearance. The move to send the 25-year-old back down to the farm after he was just brought up on Wednesday is a sign that outfielder Eloy Jimenez (groin) could come off the injured list this weekend after missing some time with a left-groin strain. Even if Jimenez comes back this weekend, veterans Robbie Grossman and Kevin Pillar should see more playing time with Luis Robert Jr. (hip) out for a while. Colas hit just .216 (53-for-245) with five home runs, 19 RBI and four steals in 75 games in his MLB in 2023. We'll likely see him back in the big leagues as outfield depth again in 2024.

Mets pitcher Christian Scott has been over-powering across two Triple-A starts. The power right-hander has 19 strikeouts in just 9 innings of work and has gone short stretches where he has looked untouchable. While only walking one batter, Scott still sports a 4.00 ERA thanks to allowing three long balls. Look for that number to drop as the 24-year-old has looked the part and appears to be knocking on the door in Queens. While not necessarily a household name, Scott has gained momentum recently, and the former fifth-rounder could make a huge impact in the coming weeks. Fantasy managers should act accordingly.

Philadelphia Phillies starting pitcher Ranger Suarez struck out eight Pittsburgh Pirates on Thursday, launching six scoreless innings of two-hit ball with two walks en route to his second win during the 5-1 victory. Other than the free passes and a couple of innocuous singles, Suarez cruised through a formidable Pirates lineup that entered the day fifth in the major leagues in runs scored (69). Through three starts, the 28-year-old Venezuelan left-hander owns an excellent 2.65 ERA, 0.71 WHIP, and 19:3 K:BB after tossing 15 scoreless innings of Grapefruit League play during spring training. Suarez will be a great streaming option in all season-long fantasy leagues and a popular DFS choice when he takes the mound for Tuesday's scheduled start at home versus the visiting Colorado Rockies, who are hitting only .218 and scoring just 3.4 runs per game over seven outings away from Coors Field so far this year.

Pittsburgh Pirates starting pitcher Jared Jones logged a quality start on Thursday, taking the loss in the 5-1 defeat to the Philadelphia Phillies after giving up three runs on six hits and striking out eight over 6 1/3 innings. Jones put together another great performance overall, with an Alec Bohm solo home run in the fourth inning and a Brandon Marsh two-run homer serving as the brunt of the damage to his line. The hard-throwing 22-year-old right-hander is exhibiting plenty of strikeout upside for fantasy managers thus far, fanning 25 over the first 18 major-league innings of his career to go with a 4.00 ERA and an outstanding 0.94 WHIP. If he cuts down on the loud contact (four HRs through three starts), Jones could keep his rotation spot when the Bucs inevitably call up 2023 No. 1 overall pick Paul Skenes later this year. On Tuesday, he's slated to face a New York Mets offense that's suddenly awakening from their early-season swoon.
