Kodai Senga Moved To 60-Day IL

The New York Mets have transferred right-hander Kodai Senga (shoulder) to the 60-day injured list. In corresponding moves, they have selected reliever Tyler Jay from Triple-A Syracuse have optioned righty Dedniel Nunez to Syracuse. Senga initially complained of right arm fatigue early in spring training but was eventually diagnosed with a right-shoulder capsular strain that will now keep him sidelined until May 27 at a minimum but a June return to action is more likely. It's a tough blow for the Mets as Senga tossed a healthy 2.98 ERA alongside a 29.1% K% across 29 starts for the Mets in his first season in North America in 2023. He is worth an injury stash into the summer as a result.

Jarred Kelenic Hits The Bench Wednesday

Atlanta Braves outfielder Jarred Kelenic will start Wednesday's game against southpaw Jose Quintana and the visiting New York Mets on the bench. The move to the bench against a left-hander comes as no surprise as the Braves added the righty-swinging Adam Duvall just before Opening Day to platoon with Kelenic in left field after he was originally scheduled to handle primary left-field duties with the Braves this season. Acquired in a trade with the Mariners this winter, the 24-year-old is off to a hot start, hitting .462 (9-for-26) but he is also without a home run or a stolen base and has struck out in 31% of his plate appearance, a trend that's continued from last season. Additionally, he sports a massive .706 BABIP that will crater sharply moving forward.

Brandon Lowe Absent Again Wednesday

Tampa Bay Rays second baseman Brandon Lowe is once again not in the starting lineup for Wednesday's contest against Jose Soriano and the Los Angeles Angels. The infielder has recently dealt with an oblique issue that has popped up for a second time in recent days as he last appeared on Sunday at Colorado. The 29-year-old's side issue could be the reason for a slow start as he's hitting just .185 (5-for-27) with a homer, a double, and two walks across 30 trips to the plate. However, he's long been a safe option at second base as he hit 21 home runs with seven stolen bases alongside a healthy 11.5% BB% in 109 games last season. Curtis Mead is manning the keystone and will hit fifth on Wednesday afternoon.

Allan Winans Getting The Start Wednesday

Atlanta Braves right-hander Allan Winans will toe the rubber on Wednesday when the club takes on the visiting New York Mets. The 28-year-old was recalled from Triple-A Gwinnett on Sunday when the club placed ace Spencer Strider on the 15-day injured list with right elbow soreness. Wednesday marks Winans' 2024 big-league debut after he made one Triple-A start, allowing two earned runs on a pair of solo homers across 5 2/3 innings on April 2. Winans made six starts for the Braves in the 2023 season and posted a 5.29 ERA across 32 1/3 innings of work. However, his 4.09 FIP, 3.88 SIERA, and a strong 18.4% K-BB% in that time suggest he was much better than his surface ERA may indicate.

Kutter Crawford Looking To Keep Rolling Wednesday

Boston Red Sox right-hander Kutter Crawford will look to keep up the good work as he takes on the visiting Baltimore Orioles on Wednesday. The 28-year-old earned a rotation spot out of spring training and has worked 10 1/2 innings while allowing two runs (one earned) on just five hits with 12 strikeouts against four walks in that time. He went six scoreless frames in his season debut in Seattle on March 30 before going 4/2 innings with one run allowed at the Angels in his last start but his three walks elevated his pitch count early. Crawford posted a solid 4.04 ERA alongside a strong 18.8% K-BB% across 31 appearances (23 starts) with the Sox in the 2023 campaign. His fantasy value is certainly on the rise, especially if he can maintain big strikeout numbers as he did consistently in the minors.
