Texas Rangers second baseman Marcus Semien collected two hits, both singles, and an RBI in Wednesday's 4-1 win over the Rays. It was Semien's third multi-hit performance in six games, however, he went hitless in the other three games. The 33-year-old is now 6-for-24 (.250) on the young season, with five RBI, three runs scored, and a 5:3 BB:K. The 2x All-Star is still searching for his first home run of the season, but he does have one extra-base hit (a double) so far. It's still very early, but for what it's worth, Semien has an xBA of .318. Look for him to have fewer hitless performances in the future, and surely that first long ball is not far behind.

With Los Angeles Dodgers closer Evan Phillips unavailable to pitch after appearing in three of the last four games for L.A., Dinelson Lamet picked up the save in Wednesday's 5-4 win over the Giants. It was Lamet's first career save, and he needed just eleven pitches to get through the inning, throwing seven of them for strikes. The 31-year-old struck out two in the outing and now has a 3:1 K:BB through three appearances (3 IP) in 2024 without allowing a single hit or an earned run. The righty likely won't get many more save opportunities with Evan Phillips doing just fine, but in deeper leagues, he could help lower ERA and WHIP while chipping in some strikeouts for managers in need of help in those areas.

Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Tyler Glasnow struck out seven batters in six innings on his way to earning the win in Wednesday's 5-4 victory over the Giants. The righty also allowed three earned runs on four hits, including one home run, and walked two in the contest. The 30-year-old is now 2-0 with a 3.18 ERA (4.31 FIP), 0.88 WHIP, and 15:7 K:BB over three starts (17 IP) to begin the year. The former fifth-round draft pick has now posted two straight quality starts and lines up with Minnesota next week for his next start. The Twins struck out the most in 2023, although they're middle of the pack so far in 2024 (8.8 K/game).

Los Angeles Dodgers designated hitter Shohei Ohtani belted a 430-foot home run in Wednesday's 5-4 win over the Giants. The blast was a solo shot in the seventh inning off of LHP Taylor Rodgers. Ohtani ended 2-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored, and is now hitting .270 (10-for-37) with three doubles, a home run, four RBI, seven runs scored, one stolen base and a 3:9 BB:K. It's somewhat of an underwhelming start for the superstar, although with Mookie Betts off to a scorching start and monopolizing many of the RBI opportunities, it seems like there's not much left over for Ohtani batting behind him. Not to worry, however, as the counting stats will come with the ebbs and flows of the long season. The Dodgers get a day off on Thursday before a three-game series with the Cubs in Chicago on Friday.

Texas Rangers starting pitcher Nathan Eovaldi fired seven scoreless innings on four hits and one walk in Wednesday's 4-1 victory over the Tampa Bay Rays, collecting his first win of the season. Eovaldi produced solid results in Texas' Opening Day walk-off triumph over the Chicago Cubs, and he was even better against the Rays. Until Jacob deGrom (elbow) and Max Scherzer (back) are ready to go in 2024, the Rangers are going to rely on Eovaldi as the ace of their pitching rotation. The 2023 All-Star right-hander will be an elite fantasy option when the defending World Series champions host the Oakland Athletics for the start of a three-game set next Tuesday, as Eovaldi is 2-0 with 17 shutout innings and 23 strikeouts in three appearances against the A's since 2022.
