Miami Marlins right-hander Eury Perez (elbow) threw a bullpen session on Saturday and is set to throw another one in the next few days. Saturday was the first time that Perez threw off the mound since experiencing right-elbow inflammation during spring training. The 20-year-old threw all of his pitches during the 20-pitch session on Saturday and will continue to build up his arm before facing live hitters and eventually going on a minor-league rehab start. The Dominican hurler should be stashed in an injured list spot in all fantasy leagues after he went 5-6 with a 3.15 ERA and 1.13 WHIP with 108 strikeouts in 91 1/3 innings over 19 starts in 2023. The sky is the limit for Perez when he's healthy.

Baltimore Orioles third base prospect Coby Mayo has been off to a hot start for Triple-A Norfolk. The 6'5" slugger hit his first homer on Sunday and is 5-for-14 with three RBI in his first week of play. Mayo, 22, is one of the many big-name prospects for the Orioles and like his fellow Triple-A teammates, Jackson Holliday, and Heston Kjerstad, he is blocked at the big-league level. Mayo got some action at first base this spring and that could help accelerate his ascension to the big leagues, but he may also need a trade to get playing time in the show. Regardless, Mayo offers plenty of pop to his game and is a better option in dynasty leagues than redraft at the moment. Should he be promoted or dealt, he would be worth giving a chance to in redraft leagues.

Toronto Blue Jays manager John Schneider said that right-hander Alek Manoah (shoulder) will throw a three-inning simulated game on Tuesday against minor-leaguers. Manoah was only able to pitch in one spring training game due to right-shoulder soreness, but he threw 34 pitches in two innings during a simulated game last Wednesday and will continue to ramp up as he tries to rejoin Toronto's starting rotation. The 26-year-old should have a rotation spot waiting for him when he's fully healthy, but he may not have a long leash after being demoted to the minors twice in 2023 while posting a nightmarish 5.87 ERA and 1.74 WHIP with 59 walks and 79 strikeouts in 19 starts and 87 1/3 innings. At best, Manoah is a stash candidate in deep-mixed leagues as he nears activation from the IL.

Pittsburgh Pirates starting pitching prospect Quinn Priester performed well in his first start of the season for Triple-A Indianapolis on Sunday. The right-hander went 5 2/3 innings and allowed one hit, one run, one walk and struck out nine on the evening. Priester missed a spot in the big-league rotation, but remains one of their best pitching prospects behind Paul Skenes. Priester struggled in his brief time in the big leagues this past season, but some more seasoning in Triple-A may be just what the young right-hander needs. Even though Paul Skenes is the hot name amongst Pirates prospects, Priester might have the upper hand on a promotion, should the idea present itself early in the season.

Washington Nationals outfielder Jesse Winker (illness) got sick in the first inning of Monday's loss to the Pittsburgh Pirates and was replaced by Eddie Rosario in the eventual 8-4 loss before he even recorded a plate appearance. Rosario was initially on the bench to start the game with a left-hander on the mound for the Bucs, but he ended up going 0-for-4 with a strikeout to drop his season average to .200. Winker should avoid the injured list and could be back in Washington's starting lineup in a day or two. The 30-year-old veteran is set for a platoon role in the Nats' outfield to begin the 2024 season against right-handed pitchers. He swung the bat well in the first three games over the weekend, going 5-for-11 (.455) with a double, RBI, two walks and three strikeouts in 14 plate appearances.
