Cincinnati Reds outfielder Spencer Steer went 1-for-3 with his first homer of the Cactus League on Thursday against the Chicago Cubs. Steer, 26, is one of the influx of young talented players that the Reds will deploy in their lineup and is coming off a season in which he helped managers across the board. In 2023, Steer hit a respectable .271 with 23 homers, 86 RBI and 15 stolen bases. The Reds young lineup offers plenty of potential heading into the season and Steer is not only going to be in the middle of it, but he might offer the most bang for managers buck with an ADP of 101. He is absolutely worth the attention of managers in all formats.

New York Mets shortstop Francisco Alvarez when 1-for-2 with a two-run blast in Thursdays Grapefruit League contest versus the Washington Nationals. The home run would be the second of the spring for the Mets backstop. The 22-year-old entered last season as one of the top prospects in the game and didn't disappoint. After a slow adjustment to the big leagues, Alvarez finished with 25 homers, 63 RBI and a .209 batting average. It would be nice to see the average progress in 2024, but the power is totally there. Due to that, Alvarez should be selected in all formats and has Top-5 potential behind the dish.

Los Angeles Dodgers shortstop Gavin Lux has experienced issues throwing in his recovery from a torn ACL and that has led to the club being noncommittal to him as their starting shortstop. Heading into the spring, the Dodgers were convinced that the Wisconsin native would be their everyday shortstop, but now it is no sure thing. The Dodgers are fully loaded across their roster, but shortstop depth is one of their weaker positions. If Lux were unable to play shortstop or need more than the average day off, veterans Enrique Hernandez and Miguel Rojas would be the logical replacement. Rojas and Hernandez can be ignored for now and managers should proceed with caution in redraft leagues with Lux.

Detroit Tigers starting pitcher Kenta Maeda allowed two runs, four hits, and two walks over three innings of work against the Toronto Blue Jays on Thursday. He also struck out one batter. After surrendering zero earned runs in his 2024 Spring Training debut last week, Maeda was roughed up this time around. With that said, we can't put too much stock into one fluky spring outing. Maeda had an impressive 3.77 xERA, 10.09 K/9, and 2.42 BB/9 last year, and he figures to operate as the Tigers' No. 3 starter throughout his first campaign in Detroit. He's an intriguing value option in fantasy baseball leagues.

Toronto Blue Jays left fielder Daulton Varsho went 3-for-3 with three RBI in his first game this Spring Training back on February 24. However, his output has dwindled since then as he's 0-for-10 over his last five games. On a positive note, he does have four walks, one stolen base, and just one strikeout during that span. We can't put a whole lot of stock into Spring Training performances, but it's still promising to see Varsho drawing walks at an 11.8 percent clip after turning in a career-worst 7.7 percent rate last season. He's started 150-plus games in each of the last two years and should remain an everyday player for the Jays in 2024.
