San Diego Padres left-handed reliever Yuki Matsui (back), who dealt with early spring back spasms, is throwing a bullpen session in camp on Tuesday. Manager Mike Shildt said that if all goes well with the bullpen, there should be plenty of time to get Matsui built up for the start of the 2024 regular season. The 28-year-old southpaw struck out the side in his Cactus League debut in the team's first spring game against the Los Angeles Dodgers, but he developed back spasms shortly after that outing and has been shut down since. The Japanese reliever should have a prominent high-leverage role in San Diego's bullpen in 2024 after signing a five-year, $28 million deal over the winter, and he could even take over closing duties in the ninth inning if Robert Suarez falters at all.

Baltimore Orioles manager Brandon Hyde said that outfielder Cedric Mullins (hamstring) is still sore on Tuesday after being pulled from the team's Grapefruit League game early on Monday with hamstring tightness. The team is still considering him day-to-day, but they may have him undergo a precautionary MRI from a baseline standpoint. "It's still a little bit sore. I think he's really positive about it. Still a day-to-day type of thing. We're confident. We have a lot of time left in camp," Hyde said. The O's are going to be cautious with their starting center fielder, but he should be ready for Opening Day on March 28. Mullins' batting average has come down considerably after his breakout in 2021, but the 29-year-old left-handed hitter still offers enough of a power/speed combination to be considered a solid No. 3 outfielder in fantasy in a strong lineup in Baltimore.

New York Yankees infielder/outfielder Oswald Peraza (shoulder) is back in the team's Grapefruit League lineup on Tuesday against the New York Mets, starting at second base and batting fifth. Peraza is back in spring training action after missing a week with right-shoulder tightness. The 23-year-old will be ready for Opening Day at the end of March unless he suffers a setback with his arm. Peraza isn't guaranteed an Opening Day roster spot out of camp and could begin the 2024 regular season at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. If he's with the Yankees to open the year, he'll be a super-utility player with the ability to play the infield and outfield. In 52 games in the majors last year, Peraza hit just .191 (33-for-173) with two homers, 14 RBI and four stolen bases.

Arizona Diamondbacks third baseman Eugenio Suarez (side) and outfielder Alek Thomas (wrist) are both back in the team's Cactus League lineup on Tuesday against the San Diego Padres. Suarez is at third base and is batting fifth, while Thomas is in the seven-hole and is playing center field. The 32-year-old Suarez is the more attractive fantasy commodity because of his right-handed power. The Venezuelan slugger is a pretty consistent performer from a power perspective and should rebound from his 22-homer campaign in 2023 in a better hitting environment in Arizona, but he's also led the league in strikeouts in three of the last five seasons. Thomas was optioned to the minors at one point last year and is a defense-first player for the D-backs.

Texas Rangers third baseman Josh Jung (calf) will hit in a minor-league game at spring training on Tuesday. He still isn't running 100 percent but might not be far from serving as a designated hitter in a Cactus League game. Jung took live batting practice on Monday after he was cleared to resume baseball activities over the weekend. The 26-year-old is recovering from a calf strain he suffered early in camp but still has time to get ready for Opening Day on March 28. Injuries could be the only think keeping Jung back from being a true star at the third base position eventually. RotoBaller has him ranked as the No. 10 fantasy third baseman. He was a first-time All-Star in 2023 in his first full big-league season despite missing extended time with a thumb injury. Jung finished last regular season with a .266/.315/.467 slash line ,23 homers and 70 RBI in just 122 contests.
