Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Walker Buehler (elbow) threw two innings against hitters on Thursday, according to Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic. Buehler is recovering from Tommy John surgery and is expected to miss the start of the 2024 season. However, it is still promising to hear that not only did he face hitters, but he also "got a round of applause afterwards," according to Ardaya. Buehler continues to make progress in his recovery and figures to be a strong mid-season fantasy addition assuming he doesn't suffer any setbacks. When Buehler last pitched in 2022, he maintained a 3.80 FIP, 48.0 GB%, 8.03 K/9, and 2.35 BB/9.

Pittsburgh Pirates catcher/outfielder Henry Davis is off to a big start this spring as he enters his sophomore season. The 24-year-old is 6-for-18 (.333) with three home runs, eight RBI, and two walks across 21 trips to the plate in seven spring games, good for a 1.214 OPS in that time. It's certainly an encouraging start for the former first-overall pick who struggled in his big-league debut in 2023, hitting just .213 with seven home runs, three stolen bases, and a .653 OPS across 62 appearances. However, Davis also raked to the tune of a .306 average with 12 home runs, 10 stolen bases, and a 1.015 OPS across 55 games between Double-A Altoona and Triple-A Indianapolis. He is currently outfield-only eligible in NFBC leagues but will gain catcher eligibility in short order as he arrived at camp as a backstop. Considering the 15 home runs and nine stolen bases ATC is projecting for the 2024 season, Davis' fantasy value skyrockets as a catcher.

Seattle Mariners right-hander Bryan Woo enjoyed an impressive performance in a Cactus League contest against the Los Angeles Angels on Thursday. The 24-year-old tossed 2 2/3 frames of hitless ball to go along with three strikeouts against just one walk in his second appearance of the spring, bouncing back from a tough outing in which he yielded four earned runs on six hits and a homer across just 1 1/2 innings against the Rockies on March 1. He is expected to line up as the Mariners' fifth starter on the heels of a rookie season that saw him work to a 4.21 ERA alongside a 16.7% K-BB% across 18 starts. Woo made the jump to the big leagues straight from Double-A where he dominated to the tune of a 2.05 ERA and 27.3% K-BB% across nine starts. He has the combination of strikeout stuff and quality control that can be a big boon to fantasy managers in the 2024 season.

Free-agent left-hander Eric Lauer has signed a minor-league deal with the Pittsburgh Pirates and will report to big-league spring training. The veteran elected free agency in October and has lingered on the open market weeks after pitchers and catchers reported for spring duty. Lauer spent the 2023 season with the Brewers where he worked to a 6.56 ERA in 10 outings (nine starts) and 46 2/3 innings of work. He was demoted to Triple-A Nashville where he posted a 5.15 ERA across 12 outings (nine starts) and 43 2/3 frames. A veteran of 120 MLB appearances, 112 of which were starts, Lauer owns a 4.30 ERA and tossed a 3.69 ERA in 29 starts as recently as the 2022 season. He could battle for a back-end rotation spot or perhaps a long-relief role as the Pirates' young arms gain more seasoning in the minors.

New York Yankees infielder Oswald Peraza is set to undergo imaging on his shoulder after continued discomfort while throwing, according to manager Aaron Boone. The 23-year-old has logged just seven hitless at-bats while he has also been hit by a pitch in one of his eight trips to the plate in early Grapefruit League action. Peraza is currently blocked on the left side of the Yankees' infield by Anthony Volpe and DJ LeMahieu while Gleyber Torres remains the everyday second baseman. As a result, he is in competition for a utility role after he hit just .191 with two homers, four stolen bases, and a .539 OPS across 52 appearances with the big club in 2023. He also hit .268 with 14 home runs and 16 stolen bases at Triple-A in the hitter-friendly International League. He is off the fantasy radar given his expected lack of playing time in 2024.
