Randy Arozarena Returns As DH On Tuesday

Seattle Mariners outfielder Randy Arozarena (hamstring) has returned to the starting lineup for Tuesday's contest in Sacramento against the division-rival Athletics and left-hander Jeffrey Springs, serving as the designated hitter while batting cleanup. Arozarena left Sunday's game against the Texas Rangers early with a tweaked hamstring, but he'll be back on Tuesday after missing the series opener on Monday against the A's. Miles Mastrobuoni is starting in left field and batting ninth for the M's. The 30-year-old Arozarena has hit just .224 (26-for-116) this year but has delivered five home runs, 18 RBI, 16 runs scored and eight stolen bases in his first 32 games. He has faced the lefty Springs four times in his career and has one hit. Arozarena has been better against lefties this year, going 10-for-38 with two of his three home runs against them.

Josh Bell Returning For Second Game Of Twin Bill

Washington Nationals first baseman/designated hitter Josh Bell (groin) is serving as the DH and is batting cleanup for Game 2 of the team's doubleheader on Tuesday against the visiting Cleveland Guardians and right-hander Ben Lively. This will be the first time that Bell has played since injuring his groin last Saturday against the Cincinnati Reds. The 32-year-old veteran left-handed slugger still has lots of raw power from the left side, but he's been extremely inconsistent so far in 2025 and is typically all or nothing. Bell is hitting .139 (15-for-108) on the season with five home runs, 14 RBI and 12 runs scored in his first 30 games this year. In his last five games, Bell has gone 3-for-19 with a home run. Despite all his swing and miss, Bell has averaged 21 home runs over the last four years.

Rhett Lowder Sent On Rehab Assignment

The Cincinnati Reds announced on Tuesday that they sent right-hander Rhett Lowder (forearm) on a minor-league rehab assignment to the rookie-level Arizona Complex League. Lowder, the team's No. 2 prospect per MLB Pipeline, is being brought along slowly after he missed all of spring training due to a strained right forearm. The former seventh overall pick in 2023 out of Wake Forest made his big-league debut last year and looked great in six starts (30 2/3 innings), allowing only four earned runs and striking out 22. However, he also was a bit wild and walked 14. The 23-year-old will surely need a lengthy rehab assignment before he's removed from the injured list, and when he's ready, there's a chance that he could be sent back down to the minors for a little more seasoning. Remember, they brought him up at the end of last year only because their starting rotation was ravaged by injuries.

Tyler Callihan Goes On 10-Day Injured List With Fractured Forearm

The Cincinnati Reds announced on Tuesday that they placed rookie infielder/outfielder Tyler Callihan (forearm) on the 10-day injured list with a left-forearm fracture and recalled outfielder Jacob Hurtubise from Triple-A Louisville in a corresponding move. The Reds also optioned right-hander Yosver Zulueta to Louisville and recalled right-hander Lyon Richardson from Louisville. Callihan's IL placement is no surprise after he fractured his forearm after crashing into the outfield wall in Monday's contest against the Atlanta Braves. The 24-year-old had surgery on his arm on Tuesday and is expected to be out for six to eight weeks. The former third-rounder had a hit in his first six big-league at-bats for the Reds as a reserve outfielder before suffering his serious injury. Until Austin Hays (hamstring) returns from the IL, the Reds could use Gavin Lux, Blake Dunn and Hurtubise in left field.

Yoan Moncada Returns From Injured List

The Los Angeles Angels announced on Tuesday that they reinstated infielder Yoan Moncada (thumb) from the 10-day injured list and optioned infielder Niko Kavadas to Triple-A Salt Lake in a corresponding move. The team also selected the contracts of right-handers Connor Brogdon and Hector Neris, designated right-hander Touki Toussaint for assignment and optioned right-hander Michael Darrell-Hicks to Salt Lake. Moncada played in just eight games with the Halos before landing on the IL with a sprained right thumb and went 4-for-21 with no homers, two doubles, four RBI and three runs scored. The 29-year-old Cuban infielder played in just two games on a minor-league rehab assignment with Single-A Inland Empire and was hitless in five at-bats with four walks and two strikeouts. He started at third and hit sixth on Tuesday against the Blue Jays but is merely a corner infield option in AL-only leagues.
