Tommy Edman Likely To Return Next Week

Los Angeles Dodgers infielder/outfielder Tommy Edman (ankle) is unlikely to come off the injured list during this weekend's series in Arizona against the division-rival Diamondbacks, according to manager Dave Roberts. Edman will do some running on Tuesday, and Roberts said his ankle hasn't responded as fast as the team initially anticipated. It's more likely that Edman will return from the IL after next Monday's off day. The Dodgers could use the 29-year-old back with Teoscar Hernandez (groin) landing on the IL, but they aren't going to rush anything. Until Edman is able to return, rookie Hyeseong Kim and Kike Hernandez figure to split playing time at the keystone in L.A. Edman is on pace for a career-high in homers after already hitting eight in 30 games in 2025 before his injury. It's possible he's back for the series opener on May 13 against the Athletics.

Daulton Varsho Returns Against Angels

Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Daulton Varsho (back) is back in center field and is hitting sixth in the batting order for Tuesday's contest on the road in Anaheim against the Los Angeles Angels and left-hander Tyler Anderson. Varsho will return to action after missing the last two games due to back tightness that caused him to be scratched from Sunday's game. The 28-year-old will be playing in only his sixth game of the year after having offseason shoulder surgery and started the regular season on the injured list. He has so far gone 3-for-14 with two home runs, three RBI, a steal and three runs scored in his first 17 plate appearances. Fantasy managers in season-long leagues will want to get him back into their starting lineups. In 12 career at-bats against Anderson, Varsho is hitting .583 with a 1.698 OPS, one home run and five RBI.

Luis Robert Jr. Not In Tuesday's Lineup

Chicago White Sox outfielder Luis Robert Jr. will get a breather on Tuesday against the division-rival Kansas City Royals. With Robert on the bench, Michael Taylor will patrol center field and bat in the nine-hole against Royals right-hander Seth Lugo. Robert will take a much-needed day off after starting each of the team's last 16 games. The 27-year-old hit .241/.371/.483 with four home runs and nine stolen bases over those 16 games. The Cuban outfielder does have 15 steals on the year in 117 at-bats, but he's hitting a disappointing .188 (22 hits) with five home runs, 15 RBI and 19 runs scored as the team's everyday center fielder. Fantasy managers setting DFS lineups can do better than Taylor, who is hitting just .191 (13-for-68) with a homer, six RBI and three steals as a reserve outfielder. He's hitting .091 with a .182 OPS in 11 career at-bats against Lugo.

Andrew Benintendi Remains Sidelined On Tuesday

Chicago White Sox outfielder Andrew Benintendi (calf) remains out of the starting nine on Tuesday. Benintendi was also held out of action on Monday due to calf tightness. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status leading up to Wednesday's game. The 30-year-old exited Sunday's contest early due to this injury. This evening, the White Sox will give Brooks Baldwin the starting nod in left field, and he will bat in the seven-hole. Before his injury, Benintendi held a modest .224/.298/.400 slash line with five home runs across his first 24 games of the regular season. Under the hood, the 30-year-old generated a weak .219 xBA but showed a strong eye at the plate, as he only struck out at a 17.9 percent rate. When healthy, he should continue to have an everyday role in left field. This evening, Baldwin is best to fade in DFS facing Kansas City right-hander Seth Lugo.

Harrison Bader Out On Tuesday Due To Illness

Minnesota Twins outfielder Harrison Bader (illness) was scratched from the starting nine on Tuesday due to an illness. Aaron Gleeman of The Athletic reported that it is possible Bader is deployed off the bench. Instead, Willi Castro will get the starting nod in left field and bat in the nine-hole. Bader is currently riding an impressive eight-game hitting streak. During this stretch, Bader has held a .429/.484/.536 slash line with three doubles, two RBI, and one stolen base. Prior to this streak, Bader held a modest .215/.311/.369 slash line over his first 24 games of the campaign. Fantasy managers should monitor his status leading up to Wednesday's contest. This evening, Castro is worth a look in DFS as he will face Baltimore southpaw Cade Povich, who enters this game holding a 5.16 ERA.
