Chayce McDermott Activated Off Injured List, Sent To Triple-A

The Baltimore Orioles have officially activated right-handed pitching prospect Chayce McDermott (lat) off the 15-day injured list and optioned him to Triple-A Norfolk. McDermott was dealing with a lat strain during the opening month of the campaign. He logged 5 2/3 innings of rehab work and allowed two hits and one run, and held a 6:4 K:BB. Last summer, McDermott spent most of his time at Triple-A but did make his MLB debut. Across his first four innings of work in Baltimore, the right-hander held a 6.75 ERA. At Triple-A, the No. 4-ranked prospect in the Baltimore system posted a solid 3.78 ERA with a 1.41 WHIP across 100 innings of work. During this stint, he struck out 144 batters and served up 60 free passes. Fantasy managers should expect McDermott to contend for a return to the major leagues later this summer.

Josh Bell Sitting In Game 1 Of Doubleheader On Tuesday

Washington Nationals first baseman/designated hitter Josh Bell (groin) will not start in Game 1 of the team's doubleheader on Tuesday against the visiting Cleveland Guardians. Bell will miss another game after injuring his groin last Friday. It's unclear if he'll be ready to return for Game 2 on Tuesday against Guardians right-hander Ben Lively. Outfielder James Wood is the DH and is batting third, while Alex Call starts in left field and hits second in Game 1 against Cleveland right-hander Luis L. Ortiz. Bell, who has typically been an all-or-nothing hitter at the plate, is batting just .139 (15-for-108) on the year with five home runs, 14 RBI and 12 runs scored in 30 games played. He has 27 strikeouts and 12 walks in his 121 plate appearances. Wood has one hit in just three career at-bats versus Ortiz, while Call has never faced the Guardians pitcher.

Ryan Helsley Secures Win To Record Sixth Save

St. Louis Cardinals closerRyan Helsley picked up his sixth save of the season on Monday, securing the 6-3 victoryover the Pirates. It wasn't a clean inning, though, as two runners reached base via singles, but a groundout and two strikeouts ended Pittsburgh's threat. With a 3.46 ERA and 1.54 WHIP, the righty hasn't been quite as dominant as lastyear, but is in one of the more stable back-end bullpen situations in the league, which makes him one of the more valuable relieversfor fantasy. However, the 30-year-old also picked up a save on Sunday, so pitchingback-to-back nights may open the door for anotherreliever to pick up a save on Tuesday if the situation arises.

Edwin Diaz Notches Save No. 8 In Monday's Win

New York Mets closer Edwin Diaz secured the team's 5-4 win over the Diamondbacks on Monday, pickingup his eighth save of the season in the process. The first batter reached base on an error, but was caught stealing for the first out, then Diaz coaxed a flyout and a strikeoutto end the game. The31-year-old hit a rough patch earlier this season and has battled through a hip issue, but has allowed just two runs (one earned) on four hits and three walks while striking out 15 over his last eight appearances. For the season, the 2x All-Star owns a 3.86 ERA, 1.21 WHIP, and a 7:22 BB:K over 14 innings pitched, and remains one of the top options at the position for fantasy.

Masyn Winn Back In Tuesday's Lineup

St. Louis Cardinals shortstop Masyn Winn (ankle) is back at shortstop and is hitting second on Tuesday at Busch Stadium against the division-rival Pittsburgh Pirates and right-hander Paul Skenes. The Cardinals held Winn out of the series-opening win over the Pirates on Monday after he suffered a mild left-ankle sprain in the second game of Sunday's doubleheader against the New York Mets. The 23-year-old is back in there on Tuesday and back near the top of the batting order, but DFS gamers will likely be passing on him in this matchup against the hard-throwing Skenes, last year's National League Rookie of the Year. Winn has excelled in the two-hole, though, hitting .412 (7-for-17) in a small sample size with two home runs, three RBI and a stolen base. In 12 career at-bats versus Skenes, he's hitting .167 with a .334 OPS.
