Jose Urena Signs With Dodgers

Free-agent right-hander Jose Urena signed an undisclosed deal with the Los Angeles Dodgers and will be in L.A. on Tuesday night for the second game of a series against the visiting New York Mets, according to the New York Post's Jon Heyman. Although the Dodgers' starting rotation is beat up, Urena is expected to function in a long-relief role out of their bullpen. The 33-year-old veteran doesn't really warrant any attention in fantasy after allowing 10 earned runs on 19 hits (five homers) while walking four and striking out eight in 15 1/3 innings over seven appearances (two starts) with the Mets and Toronto Blue Jays already this year. Urena was much better with the Texas Rangers last year, posting a 3.80 ERA (4.62 FIP) and 1.32 WHIP with 70 strikeouts, 39 walks and a save in 109 frames over 33 outings (nine starts). He has a career 4.78 ERA and 1.40 WHIP in 11 big-league seasons.

Mookie Betts to Return on Tuesday Night

Los Angeles Dodgers shortstop Mookie Betts (toe) is on track to return for Game 2 of the series against the visiting New York Mets on Tuesday, according to manager Dave Roberts. Before Monday's series-opening loss to New York, Betts fielding ground balls, ran the bases and took batting practice. Barring a setback, he'll be back in the starting lineup on Tuesday against right-hander Tylor Megill. The 32-year-old suffered a fracture on the tip of a toe on his left toe last week while accidentally kicking furniture at his house, and it's kept him out since last Wednesday. Betts can't do additional damage by playing on it, though, and he's expected to avoid the injured list. Fantasy managers will want to get him back into their starting lineups in all leagues on Tuesday. He's faced Megill three times in his career and has one hit against him.

Jesus Sanchez Continues Hot Hitting

Miami Marlins outfielder Jesus Sanchez went 3-for-5 with a single and two doubles in Monday's 6-4 loss to the Colorado Rockies. The 27-year-old scored and drove in a run while drawing a free pass. He's up to a hit in eight straight appearances (six starts), batting an eye-popping .449 (13-for-29) over the stretch. During the streak, he's tallied two homers and three doubles to go along with six runs scored and four RBI. Sanchez is still striking out at an elevated clip (21.3%), but he's brought his walk rate into the double digits (12.2%) for the first time since his cup of coffee in 2020. The 6-foot-4 lefty has occupied the first or second spot in the Marlins' lineup in all but two starts since May 9 and hit .289 over 83 at-bats in the month.

Wenceel Perez Homers, Doubles in Victory

Detroit Tigers outfielder Wenceel Perez went 2-for-5 with a two-run home run in Monday's 13-1 win against the Chicago White Sox. The Dominican Republic native also doubled to pick up his first multi-extra-base-hit performance of the season. Perez crushed a Jonathan Cannon sinker 394 feet in the top of the second inning to give Detroit a 5-0 lead -- his second of the season since returning from the injured list. He then doubled in the top of the fifth to notch his second multi-hit game. It's not a large sample, but he's impacting the ball much harder than last season. If Perez can sustain the 92.4 MPH average exit velocity he's produced through six appearances, it'd put him in the top 30 amongst all hitters in the metric.

Ty France Collects Three Hits

Minnesota Twins first baseman Ty France went 3-for-5 with two singles and a double in his team's 10-4 win against the Athletics. He also scored twice and drove in a pair of runs, marking back-to-back multi-hit efforts for him. The veteran has been excellent in recent weeks, picking up at least one hit in 12 of his last 14 appearances. Over that span, he's an impressive 17-for-53 (.321) with 11 RBI, five runs scored, and two extra-base hits (home run). The hot stretch has brought France's season average up to .269 -- right around where he was before batting .244 in the month of May. If it holds, it'll be his best season line since 2022 when he hit .274 in 140 games.
