Philadelphia Phillies pitching prospect Andrew Painter is scheduled to make astart for Single-A Clearwater on Friday, April 11, accordingto managerRob Thomson. The Phillies' top prospect has been on a throwing program this spring as he finishes recovery from Tommy John surgery. It will be the former first-round draft pick'sfirst start in the minorssince 2022, although he did participate in the Arizona Fall League (AFL) last year, even earning the 2024 AFL Pitcher of the Year award for his performance. Before going down with injury, the 6-foot-7 hurler owned a 1.48 ERA, 0.88 WHIP, and 167 strikeouts over 109 2/3 innings pitched in theminors. It's unclearhow many starts he'll make at Single-A, but expect him to make a stop at Double-A and/or Triple-A before getting to the big leagues, which Phillies president of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski had previously indicated wouldbe sometime in July. As he gets closer to an MLB debut, baseball's No. 7 overall prospect could become a priority stash, so redraft managers should keep tabs on his progress.

New York Mets shortstop Francisco Lindor had a standout offensive game for several reasons in Monday's 2-0 win over the Marlins. Lindor went 3-for-4 with three singles and a run scored. He saved the most important hit for last, as his fifth-inning hit off of Tyler Phillips was the 1,500th of his career. The 31-year-old has been a high-end fantasy option throughout his career, and he still has plenty left to give to fantasy managers. His 2025 season has started a bit slowly with a .242/.308/.303 slash line, no home runs, five runs scored, three RBI, and two stolen bases in 39 plate appearances. However, fantasy managers should not worry this early on, as Lindor has been a five-category fantasy contributor in each of his last three seasons.

The Houston Astros have called up relief pitcher Logan VanWey from Triple-A Sugar Land. The 26-year-old would be making his first big league appearance wheneverhe enters a game. The righty spent all of 2024 at Triple-A, recording a 3.22 ERA, 1.36 WHIP, and 98 strikeouts over 72 2/3 innings of work (31.5 percent K%), however, he owned a 12.9 percent BB%. So far in 2025, the 6-foot-2 hurler owns a 2:7 BB:K over four innings pitched, and the Astros will hope he brings his strong strikeout stuff to the majors. For fantasy, however, he's off the fantasy radar in all but the deepest of leagues. Luis Contreras, who allowed five earned runs in four appearances for Houston, was sent to Triple-A in a correspondingmove.

Chicago Cubs starting pitcher Justin Steele looked like his old self for the first time this season in Monday's 7-0 win over the Rangers. Steele carved through a tough lineup, allowing three hits and two walks with eight strikeouts over seven innings pitched. The 29-year-old is now 3-1, but he brought a 6.89 ERA into Monday's start. That has now been cut to 4.76 to go with 21 strikeouts and five walks in 22 2/3 IP. Steele seems to have suffered from some bad luck to start the season, as his 1.99 HR/9 rate is much higher than his career 0.92 mark. Monday's start was his deepest of the season and his first in which he did not allow a home run, so hopefully things can start trending in the right direction for him. Unfortunately, that may be difficult in his next start, which will be at the Dodgers. Steele is a higher-end fantasy starter and did look much better, but fantasy managers may consider sitting him in his next start, given his overall slow start and how he fared against the Dodgers in his first start.

New York Mets starting pitcher Kodai Senga earned his first win of the season in Monday's 2-0 win over the Marlins. Senga pitched five scoreless innings, allowing five hits and two walks with four strikeouts. The 32-year-old has looked strong and healthy through two starts this season after being plagued by injury in 2024 and is now 1-1 with a 1.80 ERA, 12 strikeouts, and three walks in 10 IP. Strikeouts have always been part of Senga's game, but so have walks, so his low count through his first two starts is encouraging. Senga should have a good chance to string together a third consecutive solid outing in his next scheduled matchup at the struggling Braves.
