Valente Bellozo Called Up And Starting On Monday Against Mets

The Miami Marlins recalled right-hander Valente Bellozo from Triple-A Jacksonville on Monday, and he will make the start in the team's series opener against the division-rival New York Mets at Citi Field. Bellozo is making a spot start in place of right-hander Sandy Alcantara, who was placed on the paternity list on Monday. The 25-year-old Mexican hurler will be making his second start of the year and just his 15th career MLB start after making his debut with the Marlins in 2024. Bellozo looked good in his season debut on March 29 against the Pittsburgh Pirates, allowing just one earned run while walking two and striking out four in 4 1/3 innings. However, the matchup isn't as good this time around for those getting crazy in DFS formats, and he's likely to head back to Jacksonville after the start.

No Structural Damage For Blake Snell

Los Angeles Dodgers left-hander Blake Snell (shoulder) said he's been pitching through left-shoulder soreness for three weeks, according to The Athletic's Fabian Ardaya. He thought he could get through it but was unable to finish his bullpen session on Sunday. Thankfully, an MRI exam on Sunday showed only inflammation and no structural damage in his left shoulder. Snell is hopeful he will only need a couple of weeks, but that will depend on when he resumes throwing after being placed on the injured list. With Snell on the shelf, both Landon Knack and Justin Wrobleski are expected to be recalled from the minors this week while the Dodgers roll with a six-man starting rotation moving forward. Fantasy managers will need to stash Snell in an IL spot after he opened his first year in L.A. by giving up only two unearned runs with eight walks and four strikeouts in nine innings in his first two starts for the Dodgers.

Ronald Acuna Jr. To Meet With Doctors Soon For A Checkup

Atlanta Braves right fielder Ronald Acuna Jr. (knee) will head to Los Angeles soon to get the final clearances from doctors to ramp up his running and eventually start a minor-league rehab assignment, according to 929 The Game's Grant McAuley. There is no firm timetable for when Acuna might make his 2025 season debut, but the team is anticipating an early- to mid-May return, barring a setback. The 27-year-old has been taking batting practice and doing some baseball activities for a while, but he'll need to ramp up his running program and be cleared to play defense before he can start a rehab assignment. The Braves want the former MVP to be a full-go when he's activated from the injured list, so they aren't going to rush anything for a player coming off a second torn ACL in his other knee. Acuna might not be the same player that hit 41 homers and stole 73 bags in 2023, but he still has the ability to be a difference-maker when healthy.

Victor Robles Heading To Injured List

MLB.com's Daniel Kramer reports that Seattle Mariners outfielder Victor Robles (shoulder) is heading to the 10-day injured list on Monday due to a left-shoulder injury that he suffered in Sunday's loss to the San Francisco Giants. Robles is undergoing an MRI exam to determine the severity of his shoulder injury, at which point we should have a better idea of how much time he might have to miss. The 27-year-old sold out to make a fantastic play in the ninth inning on Sunday, but he paid the price. Dominic Canzone is expected to be recalled from Triple-A Tacoma in a corresponding move, but the left-handed-hitting Luke Raley figures to benefit the most from extra playing time in right field with Robles on the shelf. After breaking out with the M's in 77 games in 2024, Robles was hitting .273 (12-for-44) with three doubles, three RBI and three steals in his first 10 games in 2024.

DJ LeMahieu Could Start Rehab Assignment On Friday

New York Yankees infielder DJ LeMahieu (calf) has rejoined the team in Detroit for their series this week against the Tigers. LeMahieu will work out in Motown for the next three days, and if that goes well, he will start a minor-league rehab assignment on Friday. Given the fact that LeMahieu played in just one spring training game and hasn't yet been cleared for a rehab assignment, we shouldn't expect him to make his 2025 debut in the Bronx until early May. And even when that finally happens, the 36-year-old veteran infielder won't be guaranteed regular at-bats at a corner-infield spot for the Yankees. When he's back with the Yankees, LeMahieu will be competing primarily for playing time at third with Oswaldo Cabrera. The two-time batting champion and three-time All-Star played in only 67 games due to injuries in 2024 and barely hit above the Mendoza Line.
