Nick Kurtz Enjoying Hot Start At Triple-A

Athletics first base prospect Nick Kurtz has posted a stellar .435/.538/.909 slash line with two doubles and one home run during his first three games at Triple-A. He has tallied at least one hit in each contest and went deep for the first time on March 29. Kurtz is viewed as one of the top prospects in the A's system. He was drafted with the fourth pick in last year's MLB Draft out of Wake Forest. In spring training, Kurtz posted a .261/.452/.522 slash line with two long balls and a 7:5 BB:K. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his development as the 22-year-old should be in the mix to make his MLB debut this season. Currently, Tyler Soderstrom occupies first base for the Athletics, but if Kurtz continues to hit at this level, he will eventually earn a promotion.

Coby Mayo Goes Deep On Sunday

Baltimore Orioles third base prospect Coby Mayo went 3-for-5 with a home run during their victory over the Durham Bulls on Sunday. After going 0-for-7 at the plate during his first two games of the season, Mayo was able to break his slump on Sunday. In this contest, Mayo tallied six total bases, brought in two runs, and scored one himself. The 23-year-old was competing for a spot on the Opening Day roster but was unable to find his footing during camp. Fantasy managers should pay close attention to his progression at Triple-A, as he should be in the mix to return to the big leagues early in the campaign. Last season, Mayo posted a .098/.196/.098 slash line across his first 17 games in the majors. However, at Triple-A, he posted an elite .287/.364/.562 slash line. If he continues to hit for power at Triple-A, he will be worth stashing in deeper formats.

Chase Dollander Strikes Out Five In Triple-A Debut

Colorado Rockies starting pitching prospect Chase Dollander tallied five strikeouts across four innings of work in his Triple-A debut. He allowed six hits, two walks, and one earned run. Dollander was competing for a spot in the starting rotation in Colorado but fell just short in the competition. However, the former ninth overall pick may not need much time in Triple-A if he continues to produce at this level. Last summer, Dollander made his professional debut and progressed quite quickly through the Colorado pipeline. He opened the season at High-A and logged 70 innings to the tune of a 2.83 ERA and a 1.26 WHIP. Then at Double-A, Dollander posted a 2.25 ERA with a 1.10 WHIP across 48 innings. He is worth stashing in all standard formats as he should push for an early MLB debut this season.

Adrian Del Castillo Placed On 7-Day Injured List

Arizona Diamondbacks catching prospect Adrian Del Castillo (shoulder) was placed on the 7-day injured list with a shoulder injury. Fantasy managers should monitor his status, but should expect him to miss at least a few weeks of action at Triple-A. Del Castillo received a brief taste of the majors last season and performed quite well. He posted an elite .313/.368/.526 slash line with five doubles and four long balls. During this brief stint, he generated a strong 11.5 percent barrel rate but generated a weak .215 xBA, which suggests he could face some regression when he returns to the big leagues. When he returns to action at Triple-A, fantasy managers should monitor his production at the top level of the minor leagues, as he should see time in the majors later in the summer.

Kyle Isbel Out Of The Lineup Monday

Kansas City Royals outfielder Kyle Isbel will get Monday off as the team starts a three-game road series against the Milwaukee Brewers. Isbel started all three outings for the Royals in center field for their opening series with the Cleveland Guardians, but he'll get a breather to start the week. Maikel Garcia will slot into center field and bat ninth versus Milwaukee. The California native is 2-for-8 thus far with a double, single, two runs scored, and two strikeouts on the young season. He'll likely be back in the lineup over the next few days.
