Athletics third baseman CJ Alexander (undisclosed) is back at third base and is batting eighth in the Cactus League game on Wednesday against the Arizona Diamondbacks. Alexander is back in action after he was removed from Monday's spring game against the Chicago White Sox due to an undisclosed injury. Obviously, it wasn't a very serious one for the 28-year-old infielder. He will now resume his competition for one of the final position-player spots on the team's Opening Day roster. The left-handed hitter hasn't made a very good case for himself in 13 spring training games this year, as he's gone just 3-for-18 (.167) with two RBI, four walks and four strikeouts in 22 plate appearances. Alexander made his big-league debut in 2024 with the Kansas City Royals but went 1-for-8 with three K's in only four games.

Boston Red Sox outfield prospect Roman Anthony (illness) is back int he team's Grapefruit League lineup on Wednesday, starting in left field and batting seventh against the Minnesota Twins. Anthony has been out of the spring lineup since March 2 due to a virus that has been going around the Red Sox's clubhouse. It caused Anthony to lose around 10 pounds. As a result, the 20-year-old, who is considered the No. 2 overall prospect in baseball by MLB Pipeline, is considered a long shot to break camp with the team heading into Opening Day on March 27. Anthony is expected to open the year at Triple-A Worcester, but he's already proven he doesn't need much more time in the minors, so we should see him make his MLB debut sooner than later in 2025. He has an incredibly high ceiling, but it remains to be seen how much playing time he'll receive in Boston initially.

Los Angeles Angels infielder Luis Rengifo (hamstring) is scheduled to get some at-bats in camp on Wednesday in a minor-league game, but he won't play the field or run the bases. Rengifo, who was scratched twice last week from Cactus League games with hamstring tightness, is just trying to get his timing down at this point. The 28-year-old switch-hitter is running out of time to be ready for Opening Day later this month, although the Angels haven't ruled him out just yet because of his lingering hamstring issues. With shortstop Zach Neto (shoulder) already starting on the injured list, the Angels could go with Yoan Moncada at third, Kevin Newman at short and rookie Christian Moore at second to open the regular season if Rengifo also requires an IL stint. When healthy, Rengifo should be a lineup regular between third and second base in 2025.

The Texas Rangers reassigned pitcher Emiliano Teodo, infielder Justin Foscue and pitcher Luis Curvelo to minor-league camp on Wednesday, according to general manager Chris Young. Teodo is ranked as the team's No. 6 prospect, per MLB Pipeline, while Foscue checks in at No. 15. The 24-year-od Teodo will continue his development as a starting pitcher in the minors in 2025 after impressing in spring training by throwing 4 1/3 shutout innings with six strikeouts and one walk. However, the hard-throwing right-hander arguably has a higher fantasy ceiling as a potential closer if he's eventually moved to a bullpen role. Teodo hits triple digits with his fastball and can also get swings and misses with his slider and changeup. Foscue, 26, continues to fall as a prospect after going 2-for-42 in the big leagues in 2024 and then posting a .631 OPS this spring.

Boston Red Sox manager Alex Cora said that third baseman Rafael Devers (shoulders) will take part in a simulated game in camp on Thursday with right-hander Walker Buehler pitching. Devers' Grapefruit League debut has already been pushed back several times -- he's now expected to play on Saturday against the Atlanta Braves -- but he's been taking part in live batting practice sessions and will take swings against Buehler on Thursday. The 28-year-old dealt with issues in both of his shoulders last year, which is why he didn't resume swinging until the start of spring training. The Red Sox still expect Devers to be ready by Opening Day, but his lengthy delay from playing in spring games likely means he'll open the year as the team's regular designated hitter. Devers was still one of the better all-around hitters in baseball in 2024, but his shoulder issues should have fantasy managers wondering how effective he'll be in 2025.
