Chris Paddack Exits Early On Saturday

Minnesota Twins starting pitcher Chris Paddack (head) exited Saturday's spring training contest early with a head contusion. Paddack was hit in the head by a deflected line drive. He did not suffer a concussion. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status but it appears that Paddack avoided a significant injury. The 29-year-old is currently one of the favorites to earn one of the final spots in the Minnesota rotation. Last summer, Paddack logged 88 1/3 innings of work to the tune of a 4.99 ERA and a 1.39 WHIP. He tallied 79 punchouts and held a strong 5.5 percent walk rate. However, he generated a high 4.84 xERA with a .272 xBA. If he does claim one of the final spots in the Minnesota rotation, he will have value as a streaming option in deeper leagues.

Chase DeLauter Assigned To Minor-League Camp

Cleveland Guardians outfield prospect Chase DeLauter (abdomen) was assigned to minor-league camp. DeLauter is expected to be sidelined for at least 8-to-12 weeks after undergoing hernia surgery. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status as he could push for a late-season MLB debut if he can return to form once cleared for action. Last season, DeLauter appeared in just 39 games in the minor leagues. He spent most of his time at Double-A where he held a .252/.328/.441 slash line with six doubles and five home runs. During his brief six-game stint at Triple-A, DeLauter posted an impressive .304/.407/.739 line. DeLauter is considered one of the top prospects in the sport but has dealt with numerous injuries that have continued to push back his MLB debut. He is a name to monitor during the second half of the season as he could play a role for Cleveland down the stretch.

Riley Adams Scratched From Saturday's Game

Washington Nationals catcher Riley Adams (wrist) has been scratched ahead of Saturday's spring training contest. Adams was hit on the wrist by a pitch during Friday's game. He underwent X-rays were revealed a wrist contusion. That being said, Adams might need a few days of rest, but should be fine for the beginning of the season. He has slashed .224/.290/.377 with 11 home runs and 39 RBI across 133 combined games over the last three seasons with the Nationals. It's unlikely that Adams is going to be a reliable fantasy contributor.

Lance McCullers Jr. Nearing Game Action

Houston Astros starting pitcher Lance McCullers Jr. (elbow) threw a successful live bullpen session on Friday. The right-hander threw around 20 pitches without any issues, so McCullers might not need many more throwing sessions. The team plans to have McCullers throw one more bullpen session before possibly getting him into game action. The hope is that the right-hander will be able to pitch in the Astros rotation by the end of April or early May.

Chase Meidroth Removed Early On Saturday

Chicago White Sox infielder Chase Meidroth (calf) has been removed early during Saturday's spring training contest. Meidroth was pulled from the contest as a precaution after experiencing soreness in his calves. He went 0-2 for from the leadoff spot before being taken out of the contest. The 23-year-old has struggled early in camp, but has shown solid potential with his numbers in the minor leagues. The White Sox are hopeful that Meidroth can help the big league team this season, so hopefully this is only a minor issue.
