Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Daulton Varsho (back) remains out of the team's starting lineup on Tuesday at Fenway Park against the hosting Boston Red Sox. Veteran Kevin Kiermaier will make another start in center field and will bat ninth for the Blue Jays against Red Sox right-hander Brayan Bello. Kiermaier has very little DFS appeal out of the nine-hole, but he is hitting .286 with two RBI in seven career at-bats against Bello. Varsho injured his back on Saturday and will be missing his third straight game on Tuesday. Fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day until further notice. The 27-year-old outfielder is hitting only .207 (50-for-242) in 2024 but has appealing power/speed upside for fantasy managers with 11 home runs and eight stolen bases in 72 games.

The Toronto Blue Jays activated shortstop Bo Bichette (calf) from the 10-day injured list on Tuesday and optioned outfielder Steward Berroa to Triple-A Buffalo in a corresponding move. It ended up being a minimal stay on the injured list for Bichette, who was dealing with a minor calf injury. The 26-year-old All-Star is back at shortstop and is batting leadoff for the team on Tuesday against the Boston Red Sox and right-hander Brayan Bello at Fenway Park. Despite the fact that Bichette hasn't looked like himself this year, fantasy managers in single-year leagues will want to insert him into their starting lineups. He's hit .417 with a 1.000 OPS and an RBI in 12 career at-bats versus Bello. In 52 plate appearances in June before his injury, Bichette had gone 10-for-49 (.204) with four doubles and three RBI in 13 games.

Cincinnati Reds outfielder Will Benson (elbow) is starting in left field and is batting eighth against the visiting Pittsburgh Pirates and right-hander Mitch Keller on Tuesday. Benson was hit by a pitch on his left elbow on Sunday and he missed Monday's contest, but X-rays came back negative and he's back in action against a right-handed pitcher. The 26-year-old left-handed-hitting outfielder should probably be avoided in DFS lineups on Tuesday for a variety of reasons, though. For one, he's hitless in six career at-bats against Keller. Second of all, Benson has really looked bat at the plate in the month of June, batting .156 (7-for-45) with a double, five RBI, one steal and 23 strikeouts in 19 games to drop his season line to a weak .192/.287/.379. Benson hasn't gone yard since May 28.

Cincinnati Reds first baseman Christian Encarnacion-Strand (hand) will have right-hand surgery on July 11. The surgery comes with an expected recovery timeline of three months, so he'll essentially miss the rest of the 2024 season. Encarnacion-Strand initially went on the injured list in early May with what the team called a right ulnar styloid fracture in his hand, but additional testing showed ligament damage. Fantasy managers were expecting a lot from the 24-year-old power hitter after he batted .270 with 13 home runs in only 63 games in his rookie season in 2023, so this is obviously a big blow for anyone that drafted him. CES ended up playing in only 29 games this year and hit .190/.220/.293 with two homers and 16 RBI. Spencer Steer should continue to man first base for the Reds moving forward, which has opened up playing time at third base for Santiago Espinal.

Tampa Bay Rays outfielder Randy Arozarena is retreating to the bench on Tuesday against the visiting Seattle Mariners. Josh Lowe will serve as the designated hitter and will bat second, while Jonny DeLuca draws into the lineup in left field and will hit in the nine-hole against Mariners right-hander Luis Castillo. It will be the struggling Arozarena's first day off this month. The 29-year-old has hit 10 home runs and stolen 10 bases, but he's batting just .191 (51-for-267) on the year after making his first All-Star appearance in 2023. The good news is that he could be pulling out of his season-long slump, as he's gone 11-for-33 (.333) with two home runs, three doubles, seven RBI, three stolen bases and five runs scored in his last 10 games. Don't give up on Arozarena just yet in 2024.
