Paul Blackburn Hits The 15-Day Injured List

New York Mets starting pitcher Paul Blackburn (hand) was placed on the 15-day injured list on Sunday afternoon with a right-hand contusion. In a corresponding move, the Mets promoted right-handed pitcher Huascar Brazoban from Triple-A Syracuse. The 30-year-old starting pitcher suffered the injury in his previous start on Friday evening, but his CT scan returned negative. However, Blackburn will sit out for at least the next 15 games. Brazoban made nine appearances at the major league level this summer and held a 3.76 ERA and a 1.16 WHIP with 44 punchouts across 40 frames of work. Fantasy managers should pay close attention to who claims the open spot in the rotation. Tylor Megill is a possible candidate to earn the call from Triple-A, as he has received several major league starts this summer.

Jonathan Bermudez Promoted To The Major Leagues

Miami Marlins starting pitching prospect Jonathan Bermudez is being promoted to the major league roster on Sunday afternoon. In a corresponding move, the Marlins transferred Dane Myers to the 60-day IL and optioned Emmanuel Ramirez to Triple-A Jacksonville. Bermudez spent most of the summer at Double-A and held a solid 2.53 ERA and a 1.13 WHIP across 74 innings of work. He then logged 23 2/3 innings at Triple-A to the tune of a 6.46 ERA and a 1.69 WHIP. The 28-year-old could be a candidate to see a handful of starts down the stretch as the Marlins have several starting pitchers on the injured list and might be worth a look in deeper NL-only formats.

Joey Bart Lifted From Sunday's Game

Pittsburgh Pirates catcher Joey Bart (hamstring) was lifted from Sunday's game due to left hamstring discomfort, according to the team. The team further reported that the backstop will undergo further medical testing. He was replaced by outfielder Conner Joe. Fantasy managers should pay close attention to any updates regarding the 27-year-old before Monday's game against the Chicago Cubs. If Bart were to miss any extended period of time, veteran Yasmani Grandal should be penciled into the starting nine on most nights. Prior to the injury, Bart was enjoying a stellar run as he held an excellent .315/.376/.565 line with six home runs and 18 RBI in his previous 25 games.

Yoshinobu Yamamoto To Pitch In Triple-A

Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto (shoulder) is scheduled to make a rehab start with Triple-A Oklahoma City on Wednesday. It was already announced that Yamamoto was going to start on Wednesday, but the location was unknown until now. The 26-year-old is only expected to work two innings during his first outing. It sounds like Yamamoto will need at least three starts before he's ready to return to the big league rotation. He currently holds a 2.92 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 84/17 K/BB ratio across 14 starts this season. He'll likely be able to make a few starts in the Dodgers rotation before the end of September. That being said, Yamamoto might not offer much fantasy value in redraft formats depending on when he gets back on the big league mound.

Yu Darvish Tosses Simulated Game

San Diego Padres starting pitcher Yu Darvish (groin) took the mound for a simulated game on Sunday. The right-hander reportedly looked good as he threw 54 pitches and got 13 outs along the way. Darvish was placed on the 15-day injured list on Saturday. That being said, fantasy managers shouldn't expect Darvish to be back in the big league rotation until some point in September. Before the injury, Darvish held a 3.20 ERA, 1.07 WHIP, and 53/15 K/BB ratio across 11 starts for the Padres. It's uncertain at this point if Darvish will offer much or any fantasy value to managers in redraft formats. The timetable for his return is still unknown, so fantasy managers will need to stay tuned for more updates.
