Bradley Blalock Picks Up First Career Win On Saturday

Colorado Rockies starting pitcher Bradley Blalock turned in a strong performance on Saturday and picked up his first career win in the Rockies' 9-2 win over the New York Yankees. Blalock, acquired by the Rockies from the Milwaukee Brewers, now has a 3.06 ERA on the season after giving up two ER in 5.1 innings and striking out five. Though he showed control issues by allowing four walks, he was able to avoid danger and tamed a strong New York Yankees lineup. With the Rockies looking to find out what they have in their younger players, Blalock is taking advantage of his opportunity and has pitched into the sixth inning in each of his three starts with the Rockies. Fantasy managers in deeper leagues looking for starting pitching help may want to look at this under-the-radar Rockies starter. He'll look to continue developing during his next scheduled start on Thursday when the Rockies host the Miami Marlins.

Jake Cave Tallies Four Hits, Smacks Homer In Big Game At The Plate

Colorado Rockies outfielder Jake Cave posted his best game as a Rockie on Saturday, tallying four hits, including a two-run homer, and collecting three RBI in the Rockies' 9-2 win over the New York Yankees. Cave added an RBI single and a double as part of his four-hit game. The lefty has mainly been used as a platoon option against righties and has been heating up over the past couple months, posting a .744 OPS in July and an 1.015 OPS in August after Saturday's game. Though the Rockies have been working to give their younger guys a shot at playing time, it hasn't affected Cave's availability much, making him an intriguing fantasy option and an under-the-radar DFS option. Expect Cave to be in the Rockies' lineup on Sunday against Yankees' right-hander Marcus Stroman.

Michael Toglia Hits 21st Homer, Records Four Runs During Multi-Hit Game

Colorado Rockies first baseman Michael Toglia had a very productive day at the plate, going 2-for-3 with a walk and a solo home run en route to recording four runs in the Rockies' 9-2 win over the New York Yankees on Saturday. Toglia now has an .809 OPS on the season and has greatly benefitted from consistent playing time with the Rockies. The switch-hitter hit for an .881 OPS in July and has a .939 OPS in August, greatly improved from his career .688 OPS. Fantasy managers looking for help at first base need to look Toglia's way, as his .361 xwOBA ranks in the 88th percentile. With no other veterans blocking Toglia at first base, he should continue to get consistent playing time to finish the season. Expect Toglia to be in Sunday's lineup when the Rockies take on Yankees' scheduled starter Marcus Stroman.

Jackson Holliday Records Pinch-Hit, Three-Run Double To Give Baltimore The Win

Baltimore Orioles second baseman Jackson Holliday hit a pinch-hit, three run double in the sixth inning during the Orioles 3-2 win over the Houston Astros on Saturday. The three-run double ended up being a game-winning hit for the rookie who now has a .572 OPS on the season. While Holliday's rookie season has not gone the way he would have liked it, this result in a high-stress scenario is a great sign for the 20-year-old. Saturday marked just the second game in August that Holliday has not been in the Orioles lineup, likely a combo of giving the rookie rest and avoiding a left-on-left matchup against Astros starter Framber Valdez. With the Astros starting left-hander Yusei Kikuchi on Sunday, there is a chance Holliday may be held out of the lineup until Monday when the Orioles travel to LA and face off against struggling Dodgers' starter Walker Buehler.

Andrew Benintendi Out Of Lineup Saturday

Chicago White Sox outfielder Andrew Benintendi is out of the team's lineup vs the Detroit Tigers on Saturday. Benintendi, who signed with the White Sox before the 2023 season, is having an underwhelming season in 2024. In 106 games (372 at-bats), he is slashing .210/.266/.355 with 12 HR, 42 RBI, 37 R, and three stolen bags. His biggest area of regression has been within his batting average, which is .52 lower than it was last season. Corey Julks will play left field and bat leadoff in Benintendi's place on Saturday.
