Fernando Tatis Jr. Was Available Sunday

San Diego Padres outfielder Fernando Tatis Jr. (triceps, quad), who exited Friday's game after being hit on the left elbow, was available in Sunday afternoon's game against the visiting San Diego Padres in the right situation, manager Mike Shildt said. Tatis remains day-to-day with the elbow and the quad injury he's been playing through. It sounds like the Padres and fantasy managers should have a good chance of getting Tatis back into their lineups for Monday's series opener against the Washington Nationals in San Diego, but considering he's banged up with multiple issues at the moment, there's always a chance he could sit out another game or so to recuperate. There's more apparent concern about the 25-year-old superstar's quad problem, which has lingered for most of the year.

Austin Krob Racks Up 12 K's

San Diego Padres pitching prospect Austin Krob put together a big performance for Double-A San Antonio on Sunday. The lefty tossed seven scoreless innings and allowed two hits with two walks and a career-high 12 strikeouts. Krob was on his game in this contest, but still earned a no-decision as it went into extra-innings. Krob is the Padres No.9 prospect per MLB Pipeline. After dominating the lower minors, Krob has been up and down for San Antonio with a 5.40 ERA on the season in 13 games (12 starts). The 24-year-old is known more for getting soft contact than strikeouts, despite the big performance on Sunday. For now, Krob is only a watch-list name for dynasty managers.

Nick Lodolo Walks Season-High Four, Managing Blister

Cincinnati Reds starting pitcher Nick Lodolo's (finger) pitching in Sunday's start against the visiting Boston Red Sox was impacted by a blister on his index finger. "The feeling for the ball was not the same, but it's not impacting me a ton. Definitely a little bit. I'll work to get it right", Lodolo said following the game. Limited to just 76 pitches on Sunday against Boston, Lodolo gave up three earned runs on five hits and a season-worst four walks. It's too early to tell if this issue will affect the 26-year-old southpaw's status for Saturday's scheduled appearance against the division-rival St. Louis Cardinals, but it's certainly something for the Reds and fantasy managers to monitor this week. Lodolo now has a 2.96 ERA and 1.07 WHIP with 73 strikeouts and 19 walks over 70 innings in Cincy's rotation this year.

Matt Shaw Continues To Show Power In Triple-A

Chicago Cubs infield prospect Matt Shaw had another big performance for Double-A Tennessee on Sunday. Shaw, the No. 42 prospect per MLB Pipeline went 2-for-4 with three runs, five RBI and a home run in a loss. Shaw's homer was his third in the last six games and he is now hitting .245 with 10 homers, 33 RBI and 17 stolen bases in 65 games. Shaw has been a big bright spot for the Cubs system this season and quietly has become of the of better prospects in all of baseball. The 2023 first-round draft pick has shown the ability to make consistent contact off both righties and lefties and also has some pop in his bat. Shaw was drafted as a shortstop, but he is likely to wind up at third base with Dansby Swanson and Nico Hoerner holding down the middle of the infield for the Cubs. The Cubs offense has been ugly this season and that could lead to the team considering Shaw more and more as the season goes on. Even if Shaw doesn't make his debut in 2024, there is a strong chance that he could be wearing blue pinstripes in 2025. He should be rostered in dynasty leagues and a name for redraft managers to remember heading into next season.

Zach Maxwell K's 3 In Inning Of Relief

Cincinnati Reds pitching prospect Zach Maxwell earned his second victory of the season out of relief for Triple-A Louisville on Sunday. Maxwell sent down all three batters he faced via the strikeout and allowed one hit. Maxwell has close to an equal amount of time between Double-A and Triple-A this season. After dominating Double-A with a 1.23 ERA in 14 2/3 innings, he has struggled with Louisville to the tune of a 6.52 ERA in his first 11 innings. Despite the early struggles, Maxwell has flashed potential as he can hit up to 100 MPH with his big 6'6, 275-pound frame. Maxwell is not a player that dynasty managers need to go running after, but he could be good bullpen option in the future.
