2024 Team Stats

New York Mets third baseman Mark Vientos (abdomen) is back in the starting lineup ahead of Sunday's game against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Vientos is back in the mix after missing the first two games of the series due to abdominal soreness. Luckily, it wasn't a serious injury as Vientos is back at third base and batting second versus right-hander Landon Knack on Sunday. Vientos has slowed down with the bat this month, but his upside is still enough to warrant rostering him in most fantasy formats.

New York Mets outfielder Brandon Nimmo (neck) remains out of the starting lineup ahead of Sunday's game against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Nimmo will miss his second straight game after exiting early on Friday due to neck stiffness. This doesn't sound like something that will force Nimmo onto the injured list. Fantasy managers should consider Nimmo as day-to-day until further information is revealed. In the meantime, Jeff McNeil will shift to left field while Jared Young takes over as the designated hitter versus right-hander Landon Knack on Sunday.

New York Mets pitcher Edwin Diaz nabbed his 11th save of the season in Saturday's 5-2 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers. The hard-throwing righty punched out three batters over a perfect 1 1/3 scoreless innings. Diaz was summoned in the top of the eighth inning to protect a 4-2 Mets lead and struck out Mookie Betts with a runner on second to end the threat. The Mets' closer came back out for the ninth and needed just seven pitches to strike out Teoscar Hernandez and Freddie Freeman before inducing Andy Pages into a groundout. It's the seventh straight hitless outing for Diaz, and he hasn't allowed an earned run in over a month. He boasts an excellent 2.53 ERA and 0.98 WHIP with a 30:10 K:BB over 21 1/3 innings.

New York Mets starting pitcher David Peterson allowed two earned runs and five hits over 7 2/3 innings in his team's 5-2 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers. The veteran walked two and struck out seven to secure his fourth consecutive quality start and third win of 2025 (3-2). Peterson was yet again solid -- as he has been all season -- notching his tenth straight outing with three earned runs or fewer. It hasn't always been efficient, but he was slightly better with walks this time around after surrendering three or more across his last three appearances. The Oregon product will carry a strong 2.79 ERA and (slightly inflated )1.28 WHIP into an enticing start against the visiting Colorado Rockies late next week.

New York Mets catcher Francisco Alvarez is out of the starting lineup ahead of Saturday's game against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Fantasy managers don't need to panic as this appears to be a routine rest day for Alvarez. This doesn't come as a surprise after Alvarez went 0-for-5 with a walk and two strikeouts in a 13-inning loss on Friday. Luis Torrens will cover behind the plate and bat sixth versus right-hander Tony Gonsolin on Saturday. Fantasy managers should adjust their lineups accordingly and expect Alvarez to be back in the lineup on Sunday.
