New York Mets starting pitcher Sean Manaea suffered his first loss of the season in a horrific outing on Saturday against the Kansas City Royals. Manaea gave up eight runs (six earned) on nine hits in 3 2/3 innings, making this easily his worst start as a Met. The start raised the lefty's ERA from 0.82 to 4.30. These numbers more closely match was Manaea has traditionally been as he was likely over-achieving to start the season. Things won't get much easier for Manaea going forward as his next slated start will be in Los Angeles against the Dodgers on Friday, a team that has generally fared well against the lefty.

New York Mets backstop Francisco Alvarez will be getting the day off on Saturday as the New York Mets continue a three-game series against the Kansas City Royals. Alvarez went 1-4 in last night's victory and has an overall .293/.326/.463 line with one home run to begin the season. Veteran catcher Omar Narvaez will receive the start and bat eighth against Alec Marsh. Narvaez is worth consideration in DFS as he has put together a strong start to the 2024 season with a .385/.429/.462 line with three RBI.

Seattle Mariners relief pitcher Ryne Stanek allowed one run on one hit and no walks across a scoreless inning in Friday's 4-2 win against the Chicago Cubs. He did not record a strikeout in Friday's victory. Stanek entered the ninth inning to protect a three-run lead. He got Dansby Swanson to fly out for the first out of the inning. The 32-year-old surrendered a solo shot to Cubs first baseman Michael Busch. Stanek was able to retire the next two hitters he faced to collect his second save of the season. Seattle's primary closer, Andres Munoz, was used in a high-leverage situation and retired the top of the Cubs order in the eighth inning. Munoz earned his second hold of the season. Stanek owns a 3.38 ERA, 1.50 WHIP, and a 7:3 K: BB across 5 1/3 innings in 2024. The veteran could see more save chances if the Mariners continue to use Munoz in high-leverage situations and is worth rostering in most fantasy leagues that account for saves.

New York Mets starting pitcher Jose Butto is expected to take the mound for Sunday's start against the Kansas City Royals. The right-hander recently made a spot start for the Mets during a doubleheader last week. He pitched well allowing only one run over six innings of work against the Detroit Tigers. It appears he'll get at least one more outing in the Mets rotation. He could be worth a look as a possible deep league streaming option on Sunday.

New York Mets starting pitcher Jose Quintana earned his first win of the season on Thursday in a 16-4 blowout over the Atlanta Braves. Quintana threw 5 innings of three-run ball, which was good enough with the Mets jumping on the Braves early in this one. He allowed five hits and two walks while striking out four. The veteran lefty has been serviceable so far this season, pitching to a 3.45 ERA and 1.53 WHIP with 12 strikeouts in 15 IP. He is likely better kept on the waiver wire, but he is a solid streaming option when he has a good matchup.
