New York Mets shortstop Francisco Lindor went 3-for-5 with a home run in his team's 7-2 victory against the Chicago Cubs. The superstar switch-hitter singled and scored twice, adding his fifth stolen base of the campaign. Lindor started the scoring for New York with a 388-foot shot off Cubs pitcher Jameson Taillon to lead off the bottom of the first inning. The long ball was his eighth, and second in his last four outings, as he continues to enjoy a fantastic start to 2025. He's up to a .297 average to go along with seven doubles, 26 runs scored, and 25 RBI. If the former first-round pick is set to take off in the summer months as he usually does, he could be in store for a monster season. Friday marked his second straight multi-hit effort and third in his last five.

New York Mets third baseman Mark Vientos is out of the team's starting lineup for Friday's series opener at Citi Field against the visiting Chicago Cubs. Brett Baty will draw into the lineup at third base and bat sixth against Cubs right-hander Jameson Taillon. So far in 2025, Vientos has been unable to replicate his breakout season from a year ago. The 25-year-old right-handed slugger is sitting for the second straight game and is currently slashing an underwhelming .220/.301/.370 with a .671 OPS, four home runs, 15 RBI and 16 runs scored in 127 at-bats for the Mets. The good news, though, is he currently has a five-game hitting streak in which he's gone 6-for-19 with two runs scored. Baty, a former first-rounder in 2019, has yet to figure it out at the big-league level and has gone 11-for-58 (.190) with a homer and four RBI in limited action. The 25-year-old has never faced Taillon in his MLB career.

Minnesota Twins outfielder Harrison Bader (illness) is starting in left field and is hitting eighth for Thursday's series finale against the visiting Baltimore Orioles and right-hander Dean Kremer at Target Field. Bader will be back in action for the Twins after missing the last two games due to an illness. The 30-year-old veteran has hit well so far in his first season with Minnesota, going 27-for-94 (.287) with four home runs, four doubles, 16 RBI, two stolen bases and 14 runs scored in 33 games played. Additionally, he enters Thursday's contest riding a nine-game hitting streak in which he's gone 13-for-29 (.448) with a homer, three doubles, four RBI, a steal and seven runs scored. Bader has hits in both his career at-bats against Kremer, too, but the fact he's hitting at the bottom of the lineup isn't great news for his DFS upside on Thursday.

New York Mets starting pitcher Kodai Senga didn't have the best start to the game, but he was able to have success during Wednesday's game against the Arizona Diamondbacks. The right-hander allowed five walks over the first few innings of this contest. Luckily, Senga was able to work around the walks as he threw six shutout innings. He allowed two hits, five walks, and struck out four batters over his six innings of work. He'll take a 1.16 ERA, 1.16 WHIP, and 35/17 K/BB ratio into his next start against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Senga has been excellent this season as he has allowed two earned runs or less in all seven of his starts this season.

New York Mets left-hander Sean Manaea (oblique) received a platelet-rich plasma injection on March 31 and had an encouraging follow-up MRI exam on April 14, at which point he resumed throwing. However, Manaea is still limited to flat-ground work for the time being as he works his way back from a strained right oblique that he suffered in spring training. He was throwing from 105 feet and had been increasing the intensity of his throwing sessions as of Tuesday. Barring a setback as the 33-year-old veteran southpaw continues to build up his arm, he could return to New York's starting rotation at some point in June. A mechanical adjustment in 2024 led to Manaea having a career resurgence with a 3.47 ERA and 1.08 WHIP with 184 strikeouts and 63 walks in 32 regular-season innings for the Mets. It might be a lot to ask from him for an encore, especially at his age while coming off an injury.
