2024 Team Stats

New York Mets starting pitcher Tylor Megill struck out 10 batters but lasted only 4 innings in Wednesday's 5-1 win over the Red Sox. He allowed one run on four hits and one walk. This start was more of the same for the right-hander, who continues to flash huge strikeout upside while struggling with efficiency. This was his second double-digit strikeout performance of the season, but he has also only finished six full frames one time. He'll carry a 3.56 ERA with 66 strikeouts and 23 walks into his next start, which is set to be a great matchup against the White Sox at home.

Chicago White Sox right-hander Adrian Houser notched a quality start in a 1-0 win over the Seattle Mariners on Tuesday. Houser threw six innings of shutout ball while allowing two hits and walking three with two strikeouts to earn the win. It was the 2025 debut for Houser, who wasted little time getting acclimated to his new team after the Texas Rangers released him earlier in the week. Houser will hope for another chance to show what he can do in the Chicago rotation.

Milwaukee Brewers left-hander Jose Quintana (shoulder) had a second opinion recently that confirmed the original diagnosis of a left-shoulder impingement that landed him on the 15-day injured list (retroactive to May 11) on May 14. Quintana is scheduled for bullpen sessions on Tuesday and Friday of this week, according to MLB.com. If those sessions go well, the 36-year-old southpaw could come off the IL as soon as he's eligible next Monday without going on a minor-league rehab assignment. He has posted a strong 4-1 record and 2.65 ERA in his first six starts over 34 innings in 2025 with the Brew Crew, but his 4.57 FIP and weak 6.4 K/9 mark make him vulnerable to regression the rest of the way when he returns from his shoulder injury. Given all the other injuries to Milwaukee's starters, Quintana should have a rotation spot waiting for him next week.

New York Mets reliever Edwin Diaz fired a clean ninth inning in Saturday's 3-2 win over the New York Yankees to earn his tenth save of the season. He allowed no hits and struck out two in the perfect inning. The 31-year-old was summoned in the bottom of the ninth to protect a one-run lead after shortstop Francisco Lindor drove in Luisangel Acuna on a sac fly earlier in the frame. Diaz started by striking out Austin Wells and made quick work of Ben Rice before squaring off against the otherworldly Aaron Judge. After a seven-pitch at-bat, he finally got Judge to strike out swinging on a high fastball, and notably touched 100 MPH during the battle. After a shaky start to 2025, Diaz has been superb, ripping off eight straight appearances without allowing a run, and four straight without yielding a hit. He holds an 11:2 K:BB ratio over that stretch (8 1/3 innings).

The New York Mets announced on Saturday that they reinstated infield prospect Ronny Mauricio (knee) from the 10-day injured list and optioned him to Triple-A Syracuse. Mauricio's rehab assignment has ended, but he's going to need more time in the minors after missing all of last season while recovering from multiple surgeries for a torn ACL. The 24-year-old is considered the team's No. 9 prospect, per MLB Pipeline, but he probably won't be a realistic option to return to the big leagues until some point in the second half of this season. He went 4-for-32 during his rehab assignment and hit .248 (25-for-101) with two homers, nine RBI, seven steals and 11 runs scored in 26 games during his MLB debut back in 2023. Mauricio has intriguing power upside but needs to clean up his plate discipline to succeed at the next level. He's strictly a stash option in dynasty/keeper leagues at the moment.
