New York Mets right-hander Paul Blackburn will likely move back to the bullpen after his start in Monday's extra-inning win over the Los Angeles Dodgers, according to manager Carlos Mendoza. Blackburn made his season debut in Monday's series opener at Dodger Stadium and impressed, tossing five shutout innings with three hits allowed, one walk and three strikeouts in a no-decision. But for now, the 31-year-old veteran will serve in a long-relief role, and that probably won't change with both Frankie Montas (lat) and Sean Manaea (shoulder) on the mend from injuries that have kept them out all season. Blackburn got a late start to 2025 due to right-knee inflammation, but he looked completely fine on Monday. Even if he's starting for the Mets, Blackburn has a limited fantasy ceiling due to his lack of strikeout stuff.

New York Mets third baseman Mark Vientos (hamstring) has been placed on the 10-day injured list on Tuesday. Vientos suffered a right hamstring strain during Monday's win over the Los Angeles Dodgers. It's unclear how long Vientos will be sidelined, but hamstring issues usually take at least a few weeks. In a corresponding move, infielder Ronny Mauricio has been recalled from Triple-A Syracuse. The expectation is that Brett Baty and Mauricio will split up the playing time at third base while Vientos is out. Between the two, Baty is the more attractive fantasy option.

New York Mets infielder Ronny Mauricio will join the team in Los Angeles for the rest of their series against the Dodgers, after Mark Vientos (hamstring) suffered an injury in the tenth inning of Monday night's win. Mauricio played 26 games for the Mets in 2023 and is a key prospect for them going forward, but missed all of 2024 and got a late start to this season after suffering a torn ACL in the Dominican Winter League in December of 2023. After playing 10 games in the lower minors, Mauricio has looked excellent in nine games in Triple-A with the Syracuse Mets. He went 17-for-33 (.515) with three home runs, four stolen bases, a .583 wOBA, and a 48.3% hard-hit rate in that small sample size. He could step right into an everyday role at 3B if Vientos is out a while, and his well-rounded prospect profile with power, speed, and contact makes him a great pickup in standard leagues. He has a very high ceiling and will likely end up with eligibility at multiple positions while making contributions in multiple categories if he stays in the majors the rest of the year.

New York Mets third baseman Mark Vientos (hamstring) went down with an apparent hamstring injury in the 10th inning of his team's 4-3 win over the Dodgers on Monday night. After entering the game as a pinch-hitter in the designated hitter spot, he grounded out in his second at-bat for the third out of the 10th inning. He fell to the ground and stayed down for a minute before walking off with only a little help from the training staff. After the game, manager Carlos Mendoza said that Vientos was undergoing testing but that it "didn't look good." If Vientos is forced to miss time, prospect Ronny Mauricio could be called on to help fill in. Mauricio is hitting .323 in his 19 games in the minors this season with three homers, six stolen bases, and a .389 wOBA. He can play a variety of infield positions, and his multi-faceted potential makes him a great target in standard leagues if he gets to play in an everyday role for the Mets.

New York Mets shortstop Francisco Lindor went 2-for-5 with a home run and two RBI in Monday's 4-3 road win over the Los Angeles Dodgers. He also singled and notched his eleventh steal of the season. The fantasy stalwart didn't take long to leave his mark on this one, blasting Dodgers starter Dustin May's second offering of the matchup 417 feet over the right-field wall. That was homer No. 14 for him, and the sixth time he's done so to lead off a game -- tying him with Shohei Ohtani for the major-league lead and putting him one behind Curtis Granderson for the most in a single season in Mets' history. He'd also notch a clutch RBI single in the top of the tenth inning to push the go-ahead run across in teammate Starling Marte. Lindor is up to four homers in as many games with three multi-hit outings in that stretch.
