Each day at FTN, we will try and find some unique prop bets that we can play to gain an edge. Here’s a few that stick out on Friday’s slate.
Kevin Gausman Over 6.5 Strikeouts (-105, BetMGM)
I know I sound like a broken record, but the Cardinals are an absolutely horrific offense. They rank fourth worst in team wOBA, and it’s fair to push back a bit here with their mediocre 21.9% strikeout rate. Enter Kevin Gausman, who has been among the league’s elite — his 30.5% strikeout rate would be the second-best mark of his career, and in his last 12 starts, he has whiffed seven or more in nine of them.
Teoscar Hernández To Hit a Home Run (+350, Unibet)
Look, Jordan Lyles has done some nice things on the hill, but there are some major red flags. He has been good, but horrible against same-sided righty bats — let’s try on for size 2.08 HR/9, including a 37.6% hard-hit rate to righties. I selected Teoscar Hernández as he has the best odds of the righties in the lineup. Plug and play here.
Franmil Reyes To Hit a Home Run (+400, BetMGM)
As a Cardinals fan, Madison Bumgarner is a villain. The Cardinals seemed to lock horns in the playoffs consistently, and MadBum was at the forefront, shutting that offense down. Sadly, that may have been the twilight of his career. The southpaw has not been good this season, and righties have torched the dude — we are talking a .475 slugging percentage, 1.42 HR/9, and a 22.4% strikeout rate. Plan on Franmil Reyes slamming one deep.
