2024 Team Stats

Milwaukee Brewers first base prospect Tyler Black ( hand) will miss the start of the 2025 regular season at Triple-A Nashville after suffering a fracture in his right hamate bone. Black will be out six to eight weeks as a result. It's a tough break (literally) for the team's No. 6 prospect, per MLB Pipeline. The 24-year-old will likely undergo surgery, which has a good chance of sapping his power for a while when he initially returns to action in the minors. The Canadian former 33rd overall pick in 2021 out of Wright State University made his major-league debut for the Brew Crew last year and went 10-for-49 (.204) with no homers, two RBI, three steals and 17 strikeouts in his first 18 games played. However, the left-handed hitter clubbed 15 homers, stole 20 bags and produced an .805 OPS in 103 games for Nashville in 2024. Black has intriguing power-speed upside, but we probably won't see him back in the majors until later this year, if at all.

Milwaukee Brewers third baseman Vinny Capra went 1-for-3 with a solo shot on Opening Day. Capra was competing for a depth role in the infield during camp and earned the starting nod on Opening Day. In this contest, he struck out once but was able to go deep for the first time in his MLB career off Yankee southpaw Carlos Rodon. During spring training, the 28-year-old posted an impressive .292/.358/.728 slash line. He went six times and added three doubles across 19 contests. Before Thursday's game, Capra appeared in just 20 MLB contests and held a .156/.250/.219 slash line with a 24.3 percent strikeout rate. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his production as he may eventually earn the majority of starts at the hot corner over Oliver Dunn.

Milwaukee Brewers starting pitcher Freddy Peralta got his season off to a strong start despite a tough environment on the road at Yankee Stadium. Peralta had eight strikeouts in five innings while giving up four hits and two earned runs. Both runs he allowed were on solo home runs from Austin Wells and Anthony Volpe in the first two innings. The 28-year-old took the loss even though he kept his team in the game and departed with the score just 2-1. He only worked five innings since his pitch count was at 93, so he'll need to improve his efficiency to work deeper into games to be an elite fantasy option. His strikeouts were encouraging, though, and he'll look to build on his momentum in his next start, which lines up to be next week at home against the Royals.

New York Yankees closer Devin Williams notched his first save of the season, securing the team's 4-2 victory over the Brewers on Thursday. It wasn't without drama, however, as the first three batters got on base (two hits, one walk) in the ninth against the righty to load the bases with no outs in a 4-1 game. The 30-year-old yielded a sacrifice fly to the next batter, allowing one run to score, but proceeded to strike out the next two hitters to end the threat. Williams should have ample opportunities to save games for the Yankees this season, and with a career ERA of 1.83, WHIP of 1.02, and superb 27.6 percent K-BB%, the 2x All-Star is locked in as a Top 3 closer.

Milwaukee Brewers third baseman Vinny Capra is getting the starting nod at the hot corner on Opening Day. Capra enjoyed a productive spring training in which he posted a .292/.358/.729 slash line with three doubles and six home runs. He swiped two bags and held a 5:14 BB:K. This performance has already begun to reward him with opportunities in the regular season, as he is in the Opening Day lineup. He will bat eighth and will face Yankees southpaw Carlos Rodon. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status as he could earn a role on the short side of a platoon at third base alongside Oliver Dunn. Throughout his MLB career, Capra has appeared in just 20 games over the past three seasons and holds a .156/.250/.219 slash line. He is worth monitoring in NL-only formats as he could be worth deploying in favorable matchups.
