Bobby Miller Recalled Ahead of Saturday's Contest

The Los Angeles Dodgers are expected to promote right-handed pitcher Bobby Miller ahead of their contest on Saturday evening against the New York Mets. The 26-year-old made one appearance with the Dodgers earlier this season and stumbled as he allowed eight hits and six earned runs. Fantasy managers should expect Miller to provide depth as a long-relief option. Last season, Miller struggled during his sophomore campaign as he posted a high 8.52 ERA with a 1.77 WHIP across 56 innings of work. However, he showed strong promise during his rookie season, holding a 3.76 ERA with a 1.10 WHIP. Through 35 innings at Triple-A Oklahoma City this season, the right-hander has posted a modest 4.63 ERA with a 1.49 WHIP. Given his projected role as a low-leverage relief option, he is not worth rostering in any standard leagues.

Shohei Ohtani to Throw Bullpen on Sunday

Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Shohei Ohtani (elbow) is scheduled to throw a live bullpen session on Sunday. His session was initially scheduled to be held on Saturday, but it will instead be pushed back. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status as this will be the first time the right-hander faces live hitters since undergoing Tommy John surgery during the 2023 season. The 30-year-old will likely need to complete several live sessions before being considered to return to action. While he has been unable to pitch, Ohtani has still made a significant impact in the batter's box. Through the first 49 games this season, the designated hitter has posted a stellar .303/.397/.643 line with 17 home runs and 11 stolen bases.

Tyler Glasnow Feels Good After Bullpen Session

Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said that right-hander Tyler Glasnow (shoulder) threw a bullpen session in L.A. on Friday of fewer than 20 pitches, but "he said he felt great afterwards. Don't know what that means with velocity. But I do know he was getting after it pretty good." It's the first time that Glasnow has worked off a mound since he landed on the 15-day injured list in late April with a right-shoulder injury. The hard-throwing 31-year-old is still at least several weeks away from a return to the big-league starting rotation, but Friday was a good first step for him. Glasnow will likely need to go on at least a short minor-league rehab assignment as well. A first-time All-Star last year in his first season with the Dodgers, Glasnow is a must-stash in all fantasy leagues. He posted a 4.50 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 23:11 K:BB in 18 innings in his first five starts before injuring his shoulder this year.

Shohei Ohtani to Face Hitters on Saturday

Los Angeles Dodgers two-way superstar Shohei Ohtani (elbow) will face live hitters on Saturday before the game at Citi Field against the New York Mets, according to manager Dave Roberts. It's a big step for Ohtani as he works to return as a pitcher from Tommy John surgery after he mixed in some breaking pitches during a light mid-week bullpen session on Wednesday. The 30-year-old MVP missed all of the 2024 season as a pitcher in his first year in L.A., but he's getting close to his Dodgers debut on the mound this year. Ohtani is expected to skip a minor-league rehab assignment as a pitcher and instead build up his arm via simulated games. Barring a setback once he starts facing live hitters, Ohtani could join the Dodgers' starting rotation at some point in June, and he'll become a must-start for fantasy managers whenever he takes the hill.

Teoscar Hernandez Carries Dodgers Past Diamondbacks

Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Teoscar Hernandez hit a three-run home run in the sixth inning of Wednesday night's win over Arizona, providing the Dodgers with all their offense for the entire game. Hernandez finished the game 1-for-3 with his home run and a strikeout, and the rest of the batting order went just 4-for-26. His three-run blast came off Corbin Burnes and gives Hernandez 10 homers in his 36 games this season. He's hitting .307, which would be a new career-high, with a .292 ISO and .395 wOBA. Since returning from the IL, Hernandez is 1-for-8 with two runs scored and four RBI, but he made that one hit count on Wednesday, delivering the difference-maker as the Dodgers took their second straight win headed into Thursday's scheduled off-day.
